Simple and effective. No taste from the bottle despite filling with boiling water & leaving for 2 days. Tough and leak free so I was completely confident in carrying inside a sac without worrying about being upright. Accidentally tested in an aircraft hold at 38, 000 feet whilst sealed - no sign of collapse or damage due to the pressure fdifferential

So I have to admit I used to shun these Nalgene bottles. Didn't really get what all the fuss was about for a plastic bottle. Then I used one! (well several actually of varying sizes) for a couple of weeks in the mtns. . . There really is a reason why so many people use them! They are super strong, can deal with everything from ice to boiling water and prove to be great food containers too! On said trek we took enough food for 12 days and within two days some of our vegetables were completely mushed. Pretty gross. It was 30+ in the day so I don't know why we were that surprised really. But anyway because of 'leave no trace' we decided to carry our mouldy vegetables and so on in a couple of Nalgenes for the rest of the trek. You can imagine what that was like to wash afterwards. But the point in all of that is that after washing there was no residual taste or 'flavour' to the Nalgenes, which I thought was pretty impressive.

Needed a decent water bottle to take on a trek to EBC. The Nalgene 1ltr bottle was recommended to me as it has a wide mouth and suitable for hot and cold water. Been really impressed with the bottle, looks great (we got the blue tinted version) and everybody asks me about it. Its the first wide mouth bottle I have used and I find it so much better for filling and drinking on a trek (probably not ideal for running with though! ). It works amazingly well as a hot water bottle too. Only downside is its width and doesn't fit in my lightweight running backpac's outside water-bottle pocket - not ideal as I had planned to use as a day pack for the trek but clips to the outside fine. Delivery was fab - ordered on the standard delivery and actually arrived next day!

I bought this Nalgene primarily for use when off piste skiing. For years I have used a hydration bladder but even with an insulated cover and sleeve I have problems with freezing. I also find it difficult to know how much I am drinking and with my new backpack the bladder is more difficult to fit and fill. I am very happy with my choice of the wide mouth bottle - especially with the sipper attachment. This bottle is sturdy, easy to fill and easy to clean. I plan to keep it in the outer pocket of the Quintic backpack where it will be accessible and will hopefully not freeze!

I bought this as a replacement water bottle for use while mountaineering and ski-touring in Scotland where a narrower-necked bottle might risk freezing. Pros: Strong, clear (so can gauge water consumption), markings on side (allowing content measuring), reputation for simplicity and high quality buildCons: a little pricey for a plastic bottle and large size means this is quite a lot of water/weight to carry (especially inside a jacket to prevent freezing) - 0. 75 litre might be betterA good buy

Bought this bottle because I wanted a reusable water container that was easy to keep clean, and I have not been disappointed. PROS: Easy to wash by hand thanks to the large opening. Light. Durable. Can be washed in a dishwasher. Can be used as a measuring cup. CONS: Plastic of the cork doesn't tolerate heat as well as the bottle itself and can get deformed if placed too close to the jets in a dishwasher. Protip: Remove the cork and place it as far away from the jets as you can.

Bought to replace boring throwaway Squash bottles. Pricey for a water container but totally worth it. Pros: A wide mouth better for collecting water from streams, rainfall, etc. Excellent for cleaning and storing kit when stowed in a rucksack. Can handle boiling water from a kettle (I've tested). Dishwasher Safe. Numerous colours to personalise your style. Millilitre and Ounce markings - Millilitre start from 300 to 1000 in increments of 100 and Ounce from 8 to 32 in increments of 4. Strong and robust. Oh and yes, DOES NOT LEAK! Excellent bottle (especially for a rucksack). Cons: Yes, wide mouth equals spill when on the move (bike, walking, etc), so I've ordered the Humangear CapCap to fix that. No other cons! ! I've also got the Nalgene OTF and use the cap from that too. Also leakproof.

If you want a plastic bottle, this is the one to get. It's a bit expensive but it will probably last for many years. I haven't thrown it off a cliff or driven a Landrover over it, but my kids have used one for a couple of years now, and no other plastic bottle has survived that ultimate test. It's easy to clean in the field and dishwasher safe (top rack only). It's easy to drink from, although the 1 litre version is a bit clumsy compared to the cute 0. 5 litre version (which is a bit too small for an adult unless there is plenty of water available). The wide mouth works well with the Steripen UV purification system (also sold by Facewest). I have a grey and a blue one. The blue one looks great. Some useful tips:- If you like your water cold during the summer, partly fill your Nalgene with water. Then store it horisontally in the freezer over night. The next morning, just fill it completely and enjoy cold water for a couple of hours. - For winter hiking, fill it with hot water and keep in your sleeping bag during night. You will be extra warm and cosy. - If it's really cold, and you don't want to get out of your tent to pee. . . (consider having a spare for this purpose, unless you are Bear Grylls)- There is an insulated bottle carrier available. Although a bit clumsy, it could keep your water from freezing during winter hiking (or keep it colder during the summer)- Store duct tape in your backpack by wrapping it around the Nalgene bottle. That saves space. - If you are into survival/prepping, you can use the wide mouth bottle as a container for a small survival kit (space blanket, knife, head lamp, firestarter, compass, water purification pills, poncho, paracord, food, first aid kit, Perry whistle, etc). Google for nalgene ten essentials or something similar. It's worth mentioning that I try to avoid plastic containers for food/water as much as possible, especially the one's my children are using. The Nalgene bottle is BPA free, but there could be other issues that we are not aware of today. So to be on the safe side, I mainly use Klean Kanteen stainless bottles for the kids, and often for me as well. They simply rock. They are also available here on Facewest.
