The Scott Patrol Ultralight E2 25 is one of the lightest airbag kits on the market. Weighing in at just 1920g (780g pack and 1140g Alpride E2 airbag) this is the pack for fast moving ski tourers and ski mountaineers looking for additional safety in dangerous terrain.
The Ultralight E2 25 pack is made from ultralight and durable Dyneema fabric and doesn't skimp on features. There's the standard avi safety packet for your shovel and probe. Stowable ice axe and pole fixations are included for skiers requiring more technical kit. Skis can be carried using a stowable diagonal ski carry system.
The Alpride E2 airbag system is an improvement over the old E1 system. It is now 40% smaller, 138g lighter and has a larger airbag. The E2 system uses a super capacitor to to power a turbine fan to rapidly inflate the airbag. As it is an electronic system there is no need for compressed gas cartridges, so everything you need is included in the pack. Unlike a Lithium Ion battery the super capacitor is unaffected by temperature so you will get the same charge level even down to -30 degrees. The system can be charged before a day out by micro USB or amazingly, by two AA batteries. Inserting two AA batteries into the system will charge it up in under an hour, making in field recharges possible with minimum extra weight. This also means that you can test fire your pack before each trip at minimal expense.
