Osprey Soelden Pro 32 E2

The Osprey Soelden Pro 32 E2 is a streamlined avalanche airbag for day touring and backcountry skiing. The Soelden uses Alpride's innovative electric E2 airbag system so there's no need to carry compressed air cylinders.

The Soelden Pro Avy pack features everything you need in a touring pack. The 32 litre capacity there's plenty of room for skins, food, extra layers and water. With enough room left over for group kit like first aid kits or a group shelter. A dedicated avi gear compartment makes getting to your shovel and probe easy and faff free. There is also a scratch free front pocket for goggles and a small internal security pocket. You can also access the main compartment through a back panel entry so food or water can quickly be picked out with the hip belt still fastened.

The Alpride E2 airbag system is an improvement over the old E1 system. It is now 40% smaller, 138g lighter and has a larger airbag. The E2 system uses a super capacitor to to power a turbine fan to rapidly inflate the airbag. As it is an electronic system there is no need for compressed gas cartridges, so everything you need is included in the pack. Unlike a Lithium Ion battery the super capacitor is unaffected by temperature so you will get the same charge level even down to -30 degrees. The system can be charged before a day out by micro USB or amazingly, by two AA batteries. Inserting two AA batteries into the system will charge it up in under an hour, making in field recharges possible with minimum extra weight. This also means that you can test fire your pack before each trip at minimal expense.
