The Mammut Free Removable 28L is a comfortable and close fitting avalanche airbag pack. The carrying system is inspired by trail running vests to keep the weight close to your body so it doesn't bounce around. Optimized hip and shoulder straps as well as the new 3D-molded back panel offer incredible comfort and a perfect fit. The main compartment is accessible both from the top and through a zippered opening on the back. Attach your skis or snowboard using the pull straps. Your Avi safety gear is stored in a dedicated compartment and there are useful features such as a helmet holder, side compression straps and loops for your poles.
The Free Removable uses the Removable uses the 'wings' style 3.0 airbag that is completely removable for when there is no avalanche risk or you want to use the airbag system in a different pack. The 3.0 Removable Airbag differs from the Protection Airbag in that it's more of a large pillow shape known as a 'wing' that doesn't inflate around the head, so it doesn't offer as much trauma protection. It's advantages are that it is lighter, cheaper and takes up a bit less space in the pack. It's also a little easier to remove and install in the pack than the Protection Airbag.
