Full Description
The Platypus Platy 2L Bottle is the original bottle from Platypus and is still one of their best sellers. The great thing about these bottles is that they collapse to virtually nothing and weigh 80% less than a hard bottle, and the 2Litre capacity enables the Platy to be used as either a reservoir around camp or as a drinks bottle when on the move.
The Platy is BPA free and also tasteless but one of the great things is the durability of such a light bottle. They can withstand temperatures from freezing right up to boiling. Enabling you to store it in the freezer when not in use to prevent mildew and to sterilise it in boiling water.

Great bottle that I have been using as a back up for bike packing trips. Folds very small and light and holds a lot of water. Fairly basic cap but does the job. Would not rule out the conversion kit at a later date. What makes this great is I can carry water in bike bottles during the day and then stock up on water in the Platypus for the trip to camp for cooking, drinking , cleaning ect. . and during the day it just disappears in to the bag. Only downside is I find it very difficult to dry out completely after use. That is the reason for giving it 4 stars.

I used to use the concertina type water carrier. Although they compress when empty, they do not pack down very well, plus the screw cap/spout is rubbish. The Platypus has a secure cap and packs down flat. I take all my camping gear on a motorcycle so all saved space is a help. Did not give it 5 points as I am sure that in time something else will turn up that's even better.

Great Bottle - used for the Cuillin Ridge back in March and will use for some Swiss Alpine Climbing (Cassin - Piz Badile) next week - packs down super small and carries a lot - it's been beaten about quite a bit and no sign of leak or damage as yet! Bit difficult to drink from but great for refilling my Nalgene. Great service from FaceWest - order placed Sunday night and arrived Wednesday morning - will be coming back for more.

Does what I need it to do. Light, takes up little space (unless full! ) and robust.

A very lightweight bottle that is excellent for increasing water capacity when wild camping or bivvying as it takes hardly any space to carry when it's empty. The flexible nature means you can get water from awkward water sources such as on the Cuillin Ridge or in the Alps, places where the ground is predominately rocky. In the past, I have dropped one of these bottles which burst the seam but I have never managed to puncture one. As others have said, they are very difficult to dry out which is why I've taken off a star. The small nozzle, though, which makes it harder to dry is one of the reasons I do go for it as I can fill from trickles and it reduces pack size, so it's a case of compromises.

Had many of these, the latest purchase for an imminent trip into the desert, Jordan. They do the job well. Excellent service from Facewest, too.
