The Black Diamond Fifi Hook is an aid climbing essential that is also incredibly helpful for a range of mountaineering uses. The Fifi hook was designed to be hooked into a daisy chain on your gear allowing you to step further up your etriers to gain the next placement and it is still incredibly useful for this.

Most users will find it more useful as an emergency back-up for mountaineering or Via Ferrata. With the Fifi attached to your harness you can quickly and easily hook into gear or a Via Ferrata staple for an emergency rest. This obviously isn't an especially ethical practice but on long, hard routes it could be the difference between success & failure.

The Black Diamond Fifi Hook comes supplied on a 15cm webbing sling.

Black Diamond Fifi Hook. To start with mine came from Facewest in a nice gold colour, nothing like a bit of glam here and there. Its a light alloy hook so body weight only on this one. This is not a problem as I only need needed it for Via Ferrata work. The tape sling may well be a bit on the short side for me, but not much of a job to replace it with a longer tape. looks to be well made as with all kit from Black Diamond.
