The Rab Nylon Ground Cloth is a ground cover cloth with a variety of other purposes. Use it with a tarp for a minimalist shelter, or under your bivi bag for added protection from wet or muddy ground. You could also use it as a make-shift footprint under a tent on rocky terrain, whilst the corner webbing loops allow it to be used as a basic tarp or wind shelter. It also can be used as a great waterproof picnic blanket.

Lightweight coated nylon is waterproof and hardwearing. It comes in its own stuffsack for easy transportation and storage. The ground cloth is available in either a single or double person size - please see the dimensions below.

Came across this by accident on the FW website - didn't even know such a thing existed before! Well, I mean one that's cut to a convenient Bivi size anyway. It's simple, but hugely effective, and much better for trekking than the blue tarpaulin you'll get at the local hardware shop or in the supermarket, as it's much lighter, more packable and it's not noisy like the blue tarpaulins when you roll over. I've added 4 light titanium pegs which I picked up in China - worth adding if you're not on rocky ground for people like me that constantly move in the night. If you're bivi trekking (or even if you're using a conventional tent) it's handy to have as well as a small shelter should the weather turn, or even as a shelter at night if the rain is heavy (if you've got a decent bivi that can cope without the sheet underneath). Very happy with this, great service from FW as usual.

I purchased this ground cloth to act as a barrier between the ground and my Rab and Carinthia bivi bags as I place my sleeping mat underneath the bivi. I tested it out last week and was pleased as there was little moisture build up. I have also utilised this ground cloth as a base within my Silwing tarp. I would recommend this ground cloth. Would have given 5 but instead 4 due to Rab not providing pegs with the cloth. I have added MSR Mini groundhog stakes which work well.

This is my second groundsheet. Lightweight and easy to pack. Much cheaper than most tent manufacturers footprint.

This is such a bargain! Given that its main purpose is that of a groundsheet, it is designed to be durable. At first glance, it may appear a bit thinner than you would expect, but it seems to be perfectly tough enough after quite a bit of use. I actually bought it for its multifunctionality, as I often don't know when I set off if I'll be bivvying on the ground or up a tree. It's both cheaper and more durable than most tarps available, which is pretty impressive. My only experience of it as a tarp has been up trees, so haven't really needed any pegs (it doesn't come with any, by the way), but it could do with an extra loop half way down the length of it, just to keep it tighter. That said, you can easily sew some on yourself!

Although I know this ground cloth to be waterproof, it would have been helpful to know how waterproof? Otherwise I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to others.

Fantastic bit of kit. I wish I had bought one sooner! Really useful and a lot 'tougher' than expected. I generally use my Rab Bothy bag in poor conditions for seating and shelter. But this is quite big and I don't want to damage it. Not now. I can use this to sit on or under. Plus when wild camping I can put it under the tent/doss bag for extra protection on rocky ground. As Josiah said, in another review, it would have been great if it had loops half way to keep it taught when used as a wind break or tarp. But overall I'm very happy with it and it's only 140 grams!! Brilliant.

I already have this product in its smaller single person incarnation. It is great for it's intended use and has proven its worth during winter bivi's in Norway. I bought this double groundsheet for use as a very lightweight groundsheet to take with my family on bike rides so that we have a place to sit and spread out then it is time for cake. It is so very much more compact and packable than the traditional picnic blanket we had been using not to mention that it waterproof. I purchased some MSR Mini Groundhog Tent Stakes to fix the groundsheet firmly and this has been a good idea because with being staked down the wind has a tendency to blow the groundsheet away. For the money you really cannot go wrong with this. Recommend.

A fantastic, small packing and lightweight tarp. I have the single size (the double would of perhaps been more versatile) as an addition to my bike bivvying kit. Used as either a ground sheet (to protect the bivvy bag from mud/ dirt/ etc) or as a basic shelter, this handy piece of equipment now forms part of my adventure gear. I would happily recommend it. The service from Facewest was (as always) superb!

This was bought for a solo backpacking trip with the intentionof providing additional protection for a Roben's Starlight 1 tentin the absence of a dedicated footprint which Robens don't appear to make. It meet the criterias of being extremely lightweight and alsohaving a minimal pack size so it easily slipped into a backpackwithout adding too many extra grams or taking up too much space. . Pitched with four tent pegs, one in each of the four corners, it stayed put whilethe tent inner was pitched over. It has only been used once, to date, on a grass pitch in damp and drizzly Cornish weather. It coped admirably with overnight rain and misty conditions keeping the tentgroundsheet dry and the occupant comfortable. After the trip the ground cloth was hung, indoors, where it dried promptly. The material should be easy to keep clean with a quick wipe down with a damp cloth if desired. So far so good.
