The Mountain Equipment Paiyu Jacket is a highly packable down jacket engineered for extreme cold, using windproof DRILITE LOFT 40D outer fabric with a DWR finish over 269g (size L) of 90/10 700 fill power duck down. A reflective internal scrim boosts thermal efficiency, maximising warmth for minimal pack size, which makes the Paiyu a natural choice for remote expeditions, high-altitude mountaineering and cold weather basecamp use where weight and reliable performance really matter. The double-layer offset baffle construction minimises cold spots and maximises loft, giving consistent, expedition-grade insulation in the harshest winter conditions without adding unnecessary bulk to a pack already loaded with technical mountaineering gear.
On the feature front, the helmet-compatible Insulated Mountain HC Hood and insulated collar seal in heat when the weather turns severe. A 2-way YKK Vislon centre front zip with an insulated baffle prevents cold spots behind the zip, while two zipped hand warmer pockets and two chest pockets keep essentials within easy reach during high-altitude climbs. An inner zipped security pocket and two large internal mesh pockets provide generous storage for gloves or items you want to keep warm overnight. Adjustable cuffs and dual-tether hem drawcords fine-tune the fit, sealing out wind at 730g of serious expedition warmth for the coldest objectives.
