Big Agnes Anvil Horn 15

The Big Agnes Anvil Horn sleeping bags are lightweight and roomy 650FP Down insulated sleeping bags. Light enough for backpacking, with a rectangular sleeping area to ensure you get a comfy night's sleep. The Anvil Horn bags have an integrated sleeping Pad Sleeve which holds the bag in place on a camping mat. This allows you to shift around inside your bag without getting tangled or rolling off your mat. The underside of the Anvil Horn has no insulation since heat is reflected back off your sleeping mat. This helps keep the weight and pack size down but does mean that you will have to have a camping mat suitable for the overnight temperatures you will be in.

Because the Avil Horn bags have no insulation on the underside, they cannot be tested to the same standard ISO 23537 test that standardises measured performance across brands and models of sleeping bags. Big Agnes rate the Anvil Horn 15 to have a comfort rating of 15°F / -9°C. This performance is dependant on you pairing the bag with a warm mat. Those using foam roll mats should probably look at other warm sleeping bags.

Constructed from a lightweight polyester ripstop shell fabric with a water repellent finish that will protect the down inside from damp conditions. However please be aware that the out is not water proof. Inside is a soft polyester Taffeta lining that feels comfortable against the skin. The Anvil Horn is filled with 650 fill power DOWNTEX PFC free water resistant down. This down is not waterproof but will retain its performance for longer in damper conditions.

The Anvil Horn features a streamlined silhouette for increased thermal efficiency, without being restrictive. When selecting the right bag and mat combo be aware that Regular and Long Anvil Horn bags will fit on mats 20" to 25" wide. Wide Long bags fit 25" - 30" wide pads. The Free Range Hood gives you the freedom to lift your head. Jacket-style hood opening contours to the shape of your face for a comfortable, snug fit. There is also a low-profile cordlock lets you un-cinch the hood with one hand and a Pillow Barn that will keep your pillow tucked in tight all night.
