The Rab Microlight Vest is a lightweight versatile down piece that can be worn as a light outer or as part of your layering system. Featuring a redesign for winter 2018 is now has an improved fit and pocket design.
It has a Pertex Quantum inner and outer, Quantum is a very light fabric which is highly breathable, downproof and windproof. The 750 Fill Power (US) goose down will ensure enduring core warmth for the wearer. Hydrophobic down is used to provide better performance in damp conditions. This down is NOT waterproof, but will retain its loft for longer if it gets damp, and will dry faster.
The armholes are lycra bound for comfort and freedom of movement. Despite being lightweight, the Microlight Vest still has plenty of features including a baffled reverse coil front zip with a chin guard, giving extra protection and comfort. The two reverse coil zipped hand warmer pockets are harness friendly and a dual hem drawcord helps to keeps the vest in place and the weather out. The Rab Microlight Vest comes supplied with its own stuff sack for ease of packing and protective transportation.

This is a favourite top of mine for belaying, skiing, winter bouldering, and, lets face it, cold days doing absolutely anything. I often wear it skiing over a Rab Strata Hoodie. Hydrophobic down is a huge improvement and it really keeps its loft in damp days. It looks great too.

Customer Reviews of Rab Microlight Vest
Purchased for the boyfriend who is both the coldest person on the planet (think five layers when everyone else is in two!) and tall and slim.
I have been assured that it is very warm despite is lightweight, its currently mostly being used to extend the usability of various lightweight jackets (being thinner you don't end up looking like the michelin man), but I suspect will get worn a lot with tees and long sleeves as well all year round. All its fixtures and fittings are really nicely finished, all the quality touches you would expect.
Fit wise its ideal if you are taller. He's 6ft 2, but a medium, and it is long enough. I generally find Rab kit overall comes up long, including in the ladies stuff, which is great. I bought the dark grey because it would go with everything, because whilst obviously I appreciate that its designed for climbing mountains, whilst this will be used for a lot of walking and sailing, its also going to get used for general day to day (such are the problems of the cold person!) and probably for work events in cavernous cold exhibition halls.
Overall he (and I) are really impressed and whilst I did have some points to spend I would say its very good value for money at full price.
I purchased this Rab vest to replace a 4 year old similar Rab vest which I had managed to tear on some barbed wire. The new vest has more filling and is noticeably warmer as a result but it still packs down to a small size into the chest pocket. This version also has zipped front pockets which is a great improvement on the previous elasticated pockets. Overall I'm very pleased with the vest.
Lightweight but very warm. Can be used as a pillow when camping. Awesome colours and well made. Fast despatch by facewest, standard.
Purchased this jacket and have found it to be a very versatile piece of kit. It packs down small and looks sharp
It is indeed very light and comfortable, is snug and provides enough flexibility for climbing/moving...
I use it as a 2nd or 3rd layer and for that it is well suited.
Great piece of kit- lightweight and comfortable fit makes it perfect on the fell, and looks good around town too.
