The Thermarest LuxuryMap is a cleverly designed mattress which uses pressure mapping technology to provide an incredibly supportive mat for an excellent nights sleep. The variable density pressure mapping means that inside the mat Thermarest have used digital pressure mapping to analyse various body shapes sleeping in varying positions to create areas of different density foams which are specifically designed to provide support right where you need it.
The new TwinLock valve system uses two one-way valves which allows for easier inflation and more rapid deflation. The upper surface is a soft, stretch-knit fabric for excellent next-to-skin softness. It also comes with a new and improved stuff sack with easy-carry handle is also included.

Customer Reviews of Thermarest LuxuryMap
I'm a bit of a home bird having a mid life crisis with my hubby and we wanted to embrace change, try new things and go camping in our new VW van, but we like our soft beds and luxury, we are not the 'rough it' types anymore where you grab pants, tooth brush and you're good to go.So after a trial weekend in the van sleeping on a rock and roll bed we decided to get a topper for it as our backs are sooo not rock and roll anymore.
We have now tested two types of beds and concluded that the Thermarest is not half as good as the Vango self inflating beds which we also have. Both are the same price but the Vango feels miles and away the better value for money and inflates much quicker and just feels a longer lasting product.Sadly it doesn't come in a choice of widths or depths, so we bought the Thermarest which was ok and fitted on the rock and roll bed of a VW T6 van perfectly, but it just didn't seem to have the umph that the vango has.
They were comfy enough though and if you only have limited space it is good for that, it also squashes really small unlike the big vango ones, but If I had seen it in the shop I would not have paid £90 each for them.
Needless to say the new T6 van is up for sale along with all the contents and its back to luxury cottages for me, hubby and the dog.
I did a lot of research before committing to buying this particular camping mattress. I am so pleased to say I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. On the contrary, it has far exceeded my expectations.
I love camping but always have trouble sleeping. I decided to try this out at home on a cold tiled floor. It was amazing. I honestly haven't slept so well in years. Either camping or in my own bed. I even did a 'second try' the following night. It's fabulous. Will now be purchasing another for No 1 son!
I also have to say that the speed of delivery and communication were excellent. FaceWest, you've already been recommended to my camper buddies over here!Very happy camper :-)
Lovely thick thermarest. Very comfortable. The large size -a bit wider than the regular-also adds to the comfort. Best for car camping, since it's a reasonable size rolled up. Recommended for a good night's sleep when camping.
I was hugely impressed with my new Thermarest LuxuryMAP when trying it out on a recent weekend camping trip. I slept superbly and was really pleased by the level of comfortand warmth given the thickness of the mat. It packs up easily into the bag and is easy to inflate/deflate. Too big to carry if backpacking but perfect for throwing in the car with the rest of your camping gear. Would highly recommend.
The product is lovely material, beautiful rich purple colour (some mats are not very aesthetically pleasing, being a girl I liked the colour) and was ready in no time at all once i unpacked it. The comfort of the mat can be altered by releasing or adding air at the valve.I noticed when I added air it become far less comfortable for the ground I was on. I released some air and it was far better. The free chair that accompanied it was very nice quality also. I'm five foot 4 and I wouldn't like a smaller one - this is perfect for me as matched my standard length sleeping bag without feet hanging off the end.The company themselves were so helpful in answering my many questions also for this reason alone, I would use FaceWest where possible in the future.I don't have a car, I bus it, but I stillprefer this mat to a lighter one - as when I do get to my destinations I tend to stay therea week or too and comfort is a must during that time.
Well, the reviews were true! I have a herniated disc and had to camp, bought one of these in hope that I may still be able to move in the mornings!
Used it for two weeks and woke up as if I had been sleeping in a bed, so yes they are good. Good thermal protection as well. Worth the cost, highly recommended.
This is a brilliant product. After years of camping I am finally comfortable and my air bed is not going down! Children use it for sleep overs too. It's very portable and light and the cover it folds into is big enough that you can truly put it back without a fight. All round quality product.
This is my first self inflating sleeping mat. I don't normally carry my camping gear so I went for the larger base camp model. You don't want to be carrying this around with you. It is very well made with a heavy duty outer covering. It self inflates well, It took quite a while on the first inflation before it was ready, this is mentioned in the instructions. After the first inflation it was only a few minutes to inflate. I like my comfort so the approx. 75mm thickness and the ability to adjust the pressure up and down was a bonus. I'm not a light person and the mat kept me comfortable and stayed inflated all night through. Deflation and packing away is a breeze, the method explained in the instructions works very well.I would recommend this mat for those who don't have to carry it and prefer a bit more in the way of comfort under canvas, I was dubious about the higher price but having slept on it it's worth it.
Very easy to use and extremely comfortable. I could not tell that I'd put the mat over a cotton reel and laid down it it. Brilliant!
I've just ordered another one for my partner.
I have had a thin thermarest for years and although this is quite a bit bulkier it is super comfy. If you are over or near 6 foot think carefully on size as standard is fine for me but only(5'10). I have never had issues with the standard width of previous mat.
The free chair kit was a massive bonus.
Excellent product delivered quickly and efficiently. Thank you. I will be using it for doe silver expeditions.
I originally ordered the Large Thermarest-LuxuryMAP, which was extremely comfortable, indeed luxurious. However, I bought the mat to go on a motorcycle trip and the large version was simply too big. I subsequently exchanged it for the Regular size, which although it is still quite bulky, is noticeably less wide and suited my purpose in terms of size. I have yet to go on this motorcycle trip, but have tried lying on the mattress, which is extremely comfortable. I have always struggled with camping mats, partly because I am quite skinny and feel every lump and bump. I am confident that this mat will be comfortable enough for me and that I will get a good nights sleep. From my limited experience of using it, I would recommend that it is a very comfortable mat, but as suggested in other reviews, it is not something to take in a backpack, or where space is at a premium.
Just used it for camping on a long wet cold weekend. Very comfortable and insulative - better than the conventional mattresses in our boat
I have had a large size Luxury Map for several years and it has always been supremely comfortable in all terrains and seasons (even when camping in a wood with loads of prominent roots).Got this regular size one for my wife after she fell in love with mine.Good things to know are:1) Regular size is significantly lighter to carry than the larger sizes, but is still a comfortable fit for most sizes of people - I wish I could trade my large one in for a regular.2) The purple Luxury Maps are a newer model, the old model is blue. The only difference I have been able to tell Between them is that the new purple ones come with compression straps on the carry bag, where the older model doesn't have any. These are great for both packing and making it so much easier to attach to a rucksack. 3) Remember to always store your Luxury Map unrolled when you aren't travelling - it really makes it self-expand much faster and fuller.
I have 2 slipped disks and my partner has been referred for physiotherapy for a bad back and to top it off, we are both overweight - all of which are not conducive to a good nights sleep when camping UNTIL WE FOUND THESE!.We have used various inflatable beds and futons over the years but never with any real measure of success.I was sceptical about these thinking that they would not bear our weight and would just cause painful hips digging into the ground.I inflated them as per the instructions for couple of days before we went away and when we got to the site, let them auto inflate.I added a couple of breaths to mine and just one to hers and then set up our bed.We went to bed that night and to be totally honest, it was more comfortable than our orthopedic mattress at home.We had no issues with cold from underneath (as is often the case with inflatables) and these beds stayed inflated the whole week we were away.I am now raving about these and recommending them to anyone who will listen. They are well worth the money. The only negative was that there were no instructions on use and I had to google them.Plan to get them before you go away and over-inflate for 24 hours.I am fortunate to have storage space but remember that it is recommended that these are stored inflated and not rolled.
I've previously used Thermarest Womens Pro Lite & Thermarest Basecamp mattresses, they have both been excellent sleeping mats and the Thermarest luxury Map is no exception - It's my favourite sleeping mat so far.
It provides a very comfortable nightssleep. Well worth the slight increase in pack size for the additional extra warmth & comfort. It is a bit heavier, but if I'm travelling light, I use the Pro lite. I use this mat when we take the car and go camping as a family. We are so impressed with the Luxury Map that my husband has bought one too.
I bought large and my husband X-large, if you are buying a thicker mat, don't scrimp on the width.
This was actually meant to be a purchase for my partner for use in our small van conversion.I already have a BaseCamp mat for my own use but this LuxuryMAP is so comfy, I will be stealing it when she is not coming on trips! This was 'regular' size and I am 6'2 but it is plenty long enough for me.
Very comfortable, self inflation works well and quality finish.Only slight negative things I could say about it was that gave off a slight bad smell when taken out the packaging - probably one of the solvents used, but this went away after a couple of days. Also, this is a heavy mat but it was never going to be a backpacking mat, and for use in the van it is ideal.
This is a great sleeping pad, very comfortable and durable and feels like a mattress. Because of its weight and bulk it isn't best suited for backpacking but for base and car camping you hardly find better one. It inflates and deflates super-easy, and it packs neatly and easy to transport.
Definitely worth the money too.
