The Petzl Ouistiti is a full-body harness that is ideal for children from four to nine years of age weighing less than 30kg. As smaller children do not have well-defined hips for a waist-belt harness to latch onto, a suitable full-body harness is essential for their safety.
The Petzl Ouistiti features a semi ridgid structure for ease of putting the harness on. A rear dorsal point is colour coded orange and helps the harness being properly donned and is also very useful for keeping a gentle hold of your kids with. The shoulders waist and leg loops all now feature quilted close-cell foam padding for making it far more comfortable when suspended and for moving around in. The front tie-in area is reinforced and colour coded green and has been lowered so its more comforatble when climbing and descending. The harness is adjusted to size at the rear with two DoubleBack adjustment buckles, one above the shoulder blade area and one below. This ensures that once the harness is adjusted to fit your child, it stays put and they stay secured into it.
All this makes the Ouistiti a great harness for introducting your children to climbing adventures at the wall and the crag.

Customer Reviews of Petzl Ouistiti
Bought this for my six and three year old - both love it! It is a great fit and the quality is everything you come to expect from Petzl!
I bought this as a present for my 5 year old niece and nephew. We went to the wall and rented a Wild Country children's harness that was heavily padded with lots of features. The Wild Country harness ended up not being used as it was just not comfortable at all. Added to that it was much more complicated and took longer to fit to an easily distracted 5 year old.
The Petzl harness is simple, and simple to fit. Really important when you have to keep swapping it between twins. They both reported that it was comfortable, and it seemed like they didn't have to worry about it.
They're now almost 8, and the harness has been used quite a few times at the indoor wall. A really nice simple piece of kit that I would recommend to anyone looking for a child's harness.
Very strongly made harness which fits my four year old daughter well. The straps at the back are quite loose on her but this isn't a problem with the safety, and at the front everything is tidy so no issues with catching on climbing wall holds. Remember you also need a carabiner to attach a rope and hold the front loops together.
I use this with little clients regularly. Where the child has no shape above hips, or is generally tiny then these are a great and essential piece of mind, and really have no flaws as long as they fit.
Things to note:
The leg loops are not adjustable, it won't matter if they're too big as the whole body will cover for it, but they can end up to small for some bigger kids.
The waist size is not adjustable, so the two isolation loops for clipping/tying into won't fit larger kids. Again not much of a problem if it's baggy.
I wouldn't go above 30kg or too tight around the waist if clipping in with a carabiner as you'll be 3-way loading it and potentially loading the gate of the carabiner.
But, fantastic harness!
