Thermarest Vela 20F

The Thermarest Vela Double Quilt is a light and packable down insulated camping quilt for two people. The quilt can be used on its own or to add warmth and comfort to your sleeping bag as part of a supremely comfortable sleeping system. Thermarest suggest that the Vela Qulit is suitable for use in temperatures down to -6, however please be aware that this is not the same as the standardised EN rating for sleeping bags. A quilt cannot be tested in the same way and is very dependant on the quality of your sleeping mat.

The Vela Quilt is made from lightweight 20 denier Polyester with a DWR treatment on the outer. 650FP Duck Down is used for insulation. This down has been given a Nikwax hydrophobic treatment. This does not mean that the down is waterproof, but it does significantly improve its performance in damp conditions, ie the UK. The down insulation is kept in place with box walled baffles. These offer much more warmth as they eliminate the cold spots that occur in regular stitch through baffles.

The Vela quilt a great idea for more active sleepers as it allows you to move around without becoming tangled up in sleeping bag. The foot box can be used above your mat, or you can put your mat inside for a tighter fitting quilt. The down filled side baffles prevent cold drafts when you move around. The quilt comes with a stuff sack and larger storage sack.
