Platypus Platy 2L Bottle

Have just ordered another of these to replace my decades-old one which is finally showing signs of wear. The two litre size is fine for overnight camping; and the flexibility means there's no wasted space if the bottle is less than full, so it's fine during the day as well. A few convenience drawbacks, as others have mentioned, with the bottle being slightly awkward to drink from directly; but I never considered any other model.

Had many of these, the latest purchase for an imminent trip into the desert, Jordan. They do the job well. Excellent service from Facewest, too.

A very lightweight bottle that is excellent for increasing water capacity when wild camping or bivvying as it takes hardly any space to carry when it's empty. The flexible nature means you can get water from awkward water sources such as on the Cuillin Ridge or in the Alps, places where the ground is predominately rocky. In the past, I have dropped one of these bottles which burst the seam but I have never managed to puncture one. As others have said, they are very difficult to dry out which is why I've taken off a star. The small nozzle, though, which makes it harder to dry is one of the reasons I do go for it as I can fill from trickles and it reduces pack size, so it's a case of compromises.

Does what I need it to do. Light, takes up little space (unless full! ) and robust.

Great Bottle - used for the Cuillin Ridge back in March and will use for some Swiss Alpine Climbing (Cassin - Piz Badile) next week - packs down super small and carries a lot - it's been beaten about quite a bit and no sign of leak or damage as yet! Bit difficult to drink from but great for refilling my Nalgene. Great service from FaceWest - order placed Sunday night and arrived Wednesday morning - will be coming back for more.
