Mammut Haldigrat 22 E2 Airbag M

The Mammut Haldigrat 22 E2 is a lightweight avalanche airbag backpack for ski touring day trips, splitboarding missions and claiming fresh tracks off-piste. It’s built around the Alpride E2 Airbag System. This electronic, aeroplane-safe system runs on supercapacitor technology instead of gas canisters, so you can fly with it, practise deployments and pull it with confidence in freezing conditions. The 22 litre pack uses fibre-reinforced fabric where skis and snowboards attach, which adds durability when you’re bootpacking up couloirs. A U-frame back system transfers the load well and keeps you comfortable all day. The snug, close fit holds the bag secure without restricting movement, so it works for both in-bounds freeriding and backcountry touring.

The Alpride E2 system uses a super capacitor to to power a turbine fan to rapidly inflate the airbag. As it is an electronic system there is no need for compressed gas cartridges, so everything you need is included in the pack. Unlike a Lithium Ion battery the super capacitor is unaffected by temperature so you will get the same charge level even down to -30 degrees. The system can be charged before a day out by micro USB or amazingly, by two AA batteries. Inserting two AA batteries into the system will charge it up in under an hour, making in field recharges possible with minimum extra weight. This also means that you can test fire your pack before each trip at minimal expense.

The Haldigrat 22 E2 is packed with features and makes getting to your gear quick and easy. A 3-way zip clamshell opening helps you pack efficiently. The back-panel opening, unique to Mammut electronic airbags, gets you into your layers and kit fast. A dedicated external front pocket keeps avalanche safety equipment like your shovel and probe organised. Its high-visibility orange detailing helps you find your kit in an instant and makes you easier to see on the mountain. For carrying, you get a removable diagonal ski carrier, snowboard and splitboard mounting (you can attach a splitboard in two halves) and two ice axe and pole attachments. An integrated helmet holder, lateral compression straps, a height-adjustable handle for left or right-side use and hydration system compatibility complete this versatile avalanche airbag pack.
