It's just perfect and can help save your rucksack from unnecessary tear. I use it on my BD Raven Grip axe.

Extremely useful little accessory. Keeps the car boot as well as your backpack unscratched. I bought it because I lost the one I got for my Grivel ice axe, and it fits perfectly.

Great accessory that could save you à "šÃ‚£'s. I really should have got one sooner. Fits really well on my DMM Cirque axe. It does a great job of preventing damage to my rucksack and anything else the axe head comes into contact with including my car interior. It could also potentially prevent an injury. Highly recommended for the cost. I already had the BD spike protector (which is a little more awkward to use than this) so all the pointy bits of my axe are now covered.

I purchased this Black Diamond Ice axe protector for my Grivel Air Tech axe, and it fits both the pick and the curved adze perfectly. The adjustable shock cord holds it on securely and first impressions of the rubber used are that it is very tough and should last a good few years.

I have a pair of DMM Raptors and having safely negotiated ice climbs, snow gullies and the worst of the winter weather, I managed to gash my hand on one of the picks getting my bag out of the car. I already have a BD Axe Protector on my BD Raven so I ordered another one for the Raptor, not knowing if it would fit. It does, perfectly, so no more cut hands or damaged rucsacs. Result! !

A cost effective way to stop little accidents happening when transporting your ice axe. The protector can be used on any ice axe and fits in seconds. Once in place it remains secure thanks to elasticated cord. Other protectors I have seen can easily fall off. In the past, I have seen trips ruined by careless placing of ice axes into a mate's car! The Black Diamond Protector stops this from happening. I recommend it to all ice axe owners and can't see how it could be improved. Buy one today!

Really useful. These are great for protecting your other equipment from damage. Plus if you are car sharing or on public transport it protects you from damaging other people's kit and a possible insurance claim! I have also found it helps stop the kids from doing any damage whilst 'looking' at it at home. Great buy.

This fits my 20 year old Camp walking axe perfectly and I like the idea of the shock corded link between the pick and adze protector end caps. The protection covers are quite flexible so seem to fit nicely with various axes I have. The colour and ability to tie the protectors to something will hopefully mean I manage to keep this for a while rather than lose it as I have with other (more expensive) but actually less useful protectors. Great product and I'll order another 2 for other axes I use.

This is a simple bit of kit that will help you avoid slashing your friends' waterproofs/scratching cars/threatening passers-by when you are carrying a walking axe on the back of a rucksack. It also identifies you as a responsible type when trying to convince Eurostar check in staff that your luggage is not dangerous for international train travel. I have a couple of these which fit on my Black Diamond Raven and DMM Cirque walking axes. In my experience, the bottom spike on a walking axe becomes blunt fairly soon and I've never felt the need for a spike protector. Parts of the pick and adze always remain sharp and bitter experience lead me to start using protectors when I'm around people who aren't used to spiky mountaineering gear.

Bought this (along with the BD spike protector) for use with a DMM Raptor, fits fine, and the Arde end is flexible enough and it holds in place on both ends nicely. Mainly got it to protect my pack, and as I found with the spike protector it's useful for storing the axe too (depends how you store I guess - it's useful for me - I use boxes). Haven't had enough experience of using axes to have had any nasty accidents (yet), but I partly got this after hearing too many tales of others who had already done the damage. Nice bright colour too. Well worth the money.
