The Thermarest Vesper Quilts are super light alternatives to a full sleeping bag for those on multiday backpacking missions who want the absolute smallest pack size. Insulated with high loft and compressible 900FP Goose Down and constructed from ultralight materials the Vesper quilt weighs just 550g (regular) and will pack down to the size of a 1L Nalgene bottle. The Vesper quilt is designed to keep you warm in temperatures down to 0 degrees C. Please be aware that his is Thermarest's own rating as quilts cannot be tested in the same way as the standardised EN rating for sleeping bags. The perormance of the bag is very much dependant on the quality of your sleeping mat.
The Vesper Quilt is made from superlight 10 denier Nylon Ripstop with a DWR treatment on the outer. 900FP Goose Down is used for insulation. This down has been given a Nikwax hydrophobic treatment. This does not mean that the down is waterproof, but it does significantly improve its performance in damp conditions, ie the UK. The down insulation is kept in place with box walled baffles. These offer much more warmth as they eliminate the cold spots that occur in regular stitch through baffles.
The Vesper quilt is held in place with SynergyLink connectors that go under your mat, a great idea for more active sleepers as it allows you to move around without becoming tangled up in sleeping bag. The foot box can be used above your mat, or you can put your mat inside for a tighter fitting quilt. The down filled side baffles prevent cold drafts when you move around. The quilt comes with a stuff sack and larger storage sack.
