Customer Reviews of Rab Superlite Shelter Silbothy 2
I scoured the internet looking for a lightweight and packable bothy bag, and found the Rab Superlite silbothy at Facewest and the best price on the net. I'm a keen hill walker and know how the weather can easily change in an instant.
A couple of years ago I was bitten by the trail/ hill running bug, with this in mind I was looking for a lightweight and packable shelter. The Silbothy fits all requirements, it's light and is about the size of a large orange and robust, despite it's delicate silk like feel. It stuffs into it's own sack which has a mesh bottom (about 3 inch diameter) and doubles up as vent when you are inside and also as a small viewing window. I believe this can be compressed further with a stuff sac if you're really desperate for space!
I purchased the 2 man version and agree that it's big enough for two hill walkers with their packs between them and would go so far as to say it could fit 3 hill runners (with their small packs) who know each other really well! It's getting to that time of year when the weather is more changeable, and even if I don't use the Silbothy Outdoors, it would still be one of the best purchases I've made as it's comforting to know that it's there in my running pack with my first aid kit and other essentials.
I highly recommend Facewest as a brilliant seller and the Rab Silbothy as a fantastic emergency shelter.
This is a strongly constructed emergency bothy despite the lightweight material. After carrying out some research I choose this bothy against the similar Terra Nova model. The advantage of the Rab Superlite is that it packs down really small. As a guide the size of a Jaffa orange. This is perfect if you want your kit to be lightweight and take up minimal space but do not want to compromise on quality. The bothy material is strong and solidly built. I have not tested the bothy in adverse conditions as yet but ran it through a thorough outdoor inspect including a hose test and the bothy held up well against the power of the garden hose jet.
