The Mountain Equipment Odyssey Pants are lightweight waterproof over trousers for those who require a high level of protection which isn't going to add unnecessary weight if they end up being carried as a backup rather than being worn.
The Odyssey Pants utilise a lightweight Three Layer Drilite outer, this gives top end waterproofing and breathability, but is still able to withstand some tough use.
Alpine fitting, so there's no excess fabric to complement its minimalist approach. Keeping this alpine ethos the waist has been kept simple by being elastictaed and with a drawcord adjustment. Your movement is unrestricted, with the crotch being gusseted and there are two full length two-way YKK side zips for maximum venting and also making the Odyssey Pants very easy to get on and off.

Customer Reviews of Mountain Equipment Odyssey Pant
My previous pair of ME over trousers were the Aeon pants ... they were lighter in weight and generally I was pleased with them. However perhaps they did not perform that well in all day wet conditions.
My recent purchase of the Odyssey pants as yet I have not had the need to ware them. From my observation they are of excellent quality and good design as you would expect from ME. I have been assured they are more suitable for all day wet conditions.
Seven years ago I bought the ME Rainfall pants from Facewest. Within a week I discovered that the rather 'sticky' lining made it difficult to get them on and off over boots, even with the zips fully open. Within another week I had torn the flimsy material on crampons and although I managed to patch repair them, they were consigned to the dog walking clothing.
The Odyssey pant however is more rugged, only slightly heavier but most importantly for me, the smoother lining material means I can get them on and off over boots without hopping around and cursing. The side zips are chunkier than on the Rainfalls and even with grit and mud in them, I could still open and close them.
I have just returned from a week's hill walking in Assynt and the Odyssey pants were worn every day. The mild conditions meant I kept the side zips open at the top and this provided sufficient ventilation to prevent overheating. They came back caked in mud but cleaned up really well. They've just been in the washing machine (30 degrees) and they look like new.
I'm very happy them so far and I dare say they'll get a lot more use this autumn.
