Customer Reviews of Mountain Equipment Lhotse Jacket
Great jacket! I had been wanting one of these for awhile and decided to treat myself and was glad it was here quickly after placing my order
I spent quite a lot of time researching what jacket to buy given the price point. The jacket had brilliant reviews in the walking magazines and had pretty much sold out everywhere which was a good indication of how good it was I thought. I have been out walking in the Yorkshire Dales where I live in it for the past couple of months, through the winter in all kinds of conditions. Its handled torrential horizontal rain, blizzard snow and freezing fog and mist all as if it was nothing. The Lhotse is absolutely bombproof , the build quality as you would expect at this price is outstanding , the pocket zips and hood adjustment all brilliant, although its not been warm enough to use the pit zips yet. It was the first time I have bought from Facewest and received excellent customer service, will definitely buy from them again. Absolutely delighted with my purchase.
I did lots of research when purchasing a new hard shell and every time this jacket came out tops by a mile. It has also been number 1 in Trail Magazine for the last 3 years so I thought I'd treat myself to one.
Although it is quite expensive once you own one and put it to the test you'd actually think you have a bargain. This jacket is bomb proof. I've used it in heavy snow, heavy rain, strong wind and it's kept me dry and warm (with layers under). Although reviews said its heavier than some hard shells I don't think it is. It packs well, feels good quality and looks good. The hood is excellent especially with a helmet on as it fits to your head /helmet. The cuffs work better for me on the Lhotse than the Morpheus (I have both). I also like the zips better on the Lhotse as they are tough and easy to use even in gloves. I don't think there is a better jacket on the market. I've used and seen used rival equivalent jackets and the Lhotse really is head and shoulders above anything else. If you want something reliable and able to cope with extreme weather then but this jacket you won't be disappointed.
After two days of sideways rain in Snowdonia, not a drop of water came through the jacket - this is first jacket I have had that has performed so well. The fit is also very good - not too baggy, but enough room to fit a decent fleece underneath. It's well made (if a little rustly) and the pockets are high enough that they don't interfere with your hip strap or harness.
