The Mountain Equipment Approach Shorts are a great lightweight short for long summer days on the mountain. Their functionality leads them to be great for climbing or trekking, in fact they're great for pretty much anything in the sunshine.

Made from a lightweight Ascender fabric that's not only tough, it washes really well and importantly, dries fast. They benefit from an alpine fit with a gusseted crotch so you'll always be able to move freely in them.

Great shorts, very impressive service and quick delivery. I was going to buy another pair but out of stock in my size. I would recommend this company.

Very comfortable and well made shorts. They're lightweight and fit well. I usually buy 34 waist, but have found the Mountain Equipment trousers give a more generous fit, and that the 32 size is plenty big enough. Great pair of shorts and very happy with them. I've now bought quite a few items from FaceWest and have been really impressed with the site and service they give.

My wife bought me a pair of these from another place last year and I found them very comfortable to wear, fast drying in the event of a shower and a good fit. I searched for another pair and found that facewest had exactly what I wanted at the best price I could find. Ordering was easy and delivery prompt considering these lockdown times. I'm sure Illl be back for more!

This is the second pair of those shorts. Really good. Look great in blue. I wear size 30 and have the smallest size 30 in these shorts with a loose comfortable fit (rather larger than other brands). As other review said, buy smaller size if you want a slim fit but the cut is such that the shorts feel and look great in the loose fit.

This is the second pair of Approach shorts I have bought. Great fit, good quality and look good both in shadow grey and blue nights. Would definitely recommend these shorts for hiking and general outdoor activities.

I have had a pair of these for years and they continue to serve me well - they are great, durable and comfortable light-weight shorts. I have been so happy with them that I thought I'd get a second pair and was delighted to find that they're still made. The new ones are very similar to the original ones and come with a built-in belt, which is a bonus, although the unusual buckle latch takes a bit of getting used to. The shorts themselves don't feel so soft as the old ones and rustle a little as you walk. The side pocket has changed from being top-zipped to being zipped down the vertical (rear) edge. I find this fiddly to use and I wouldn't be comfortable to put a valuable in it for fear of it falling out. I have no idea why this has been changed. Mountain Equipment have also added an unnecessary push-in plastic insert into each zip-pull. One of them has already fallen out - more waste plastic to pollute the environment. So overall the shorts are satisfactory but the "improvements" have mainly detracted from what was an outstanding short. Facewest has an excellent website, the best price I could find and a great delivery-included service. I would certainly shop here again.
