This is my second Mountain Cap (as a spare). A great cap for Winter and windy, wet weather. The elasticated band is a great feature for keeping ears warm and can be folded up when not needed. The fleece lining is very warm, whilst the waterproof outer works great and is highly breathable. A very versatile, lightweight cap that gets a lot of user in the winter. No cons, but the cap is only suitable for Winter use as it is very warm. An excellent cap and well worth the money.

Great hat. Handled heavy rain without letting a drop through whilst spending a few autumnal days walking the Chilterns. I particularly like it because it is not too heavy and doesn't leave the head feeling too hot (so I guess it's not suitable for extremely cold conditions). The ear flaps just stay up if you don't want them covering your ears. Good value.

I'm giving the hat 5 stars on the basis that it hasn't been tested on a mountain in the rain. I always have a challenge trying to find a hat that fits. Big head. Usually it takes a 63cm hat to fit. This fits snugly without being tight in an XL. It feels warm. It would have been great up Ben Lawers about 2 weeks ago in constant rain. That's what drove me to buy. I needed a hat with a small peak. This hat fits the bill.

Well made, good design. I like the cupped ear flaps, nice touch. I've worn it in storm Ciara and it didn't blow off. No problems with ordering and delivery from Facewest.

This is one of the very first mountain caps, if not the original, and it's been about for decades because it's brilliant. However, with Lowe now looking to become a packs-only outfit it looks like it might go, though the wired peak is different from most alternatives and from my point of view better: it'll stay how you put it and still folds away easily to stow in a pocket. I did lose one to (very strong) wind so its replacement uses the loops to mount a chinstrap if it's going to be stupidly windy. It's really only for winter, but is excellent when a beanie isn't enough and means you can go without a hood until it gets really horrible (though it works really well under a hood too. Supplement with a buff or light balaclava and you're set up for snug without the "shut-in" feeling of a storm hood.

Bought one of these hats years ago when they first came out, much loved and brilliant weather protection, but, unfortunately, I have now lost it! Bought this one as a much needed replacement but this is a different beast altogether. The original was much sturdier, made from thicker nylon and with a breathable waterproof lining and a decent thermal insulation. The current one is lightweight has a thin nylon shell with what feels like a cheap PU coating and with thinner insulation. All rather disappointing but time will tell if it is going to last and perform adequately.
