The Arcteryx Atom SL Hoody is a lightweight and lightly insulated jacket, which blurs the line between an insulating jacket and a windshirt. Stretch fleece side panels allow for temperature regulation, during mid to high output activities. This is a versatile jacket, ideal for a variety of applications for the active user.
The outer fabric is light and soft Tyono with a DWR treatment, which provides water repellency and wind resistance. The insulation in the jacket is Coreloft Compact, which has undergone a special process to reduce the bulk of the yarns, without reducing the insulation value. This gives a lightweight and breathable insulation, which is still thermally efficient.
The side panels in the body are Torrent Stretch fleece which contour to the body and give excellent ventilation, ideal when you're working hard. The sleeves are mesh lined and are uninsulated. A fully adjustable low profile and uninsulated StormHood provides protection from the elements. The No Slip Zip is an Arcteryx feature which works like a series of speed bumps down the zip, so the zip doesn't slip from the position you put it in, even when not fully zipped up. Also there are two zipped hand pockets and an adjustable hem to keep it in place.

Customer Reviews of Arcteryx Atom SL Hoody
I like this jacket it is very thin and I use it when playing golf, not bought for that purpose, but is perfect for that, as it is so light you don't know your wearing it and does not restrict you at all. As as a base layer under a Beta AR works great
I have a number of Arc’teryx products. Never disappointed and this is no exception. Good for layering or stand alone if not too cold conditions. Trim fit if that’s what you like, if not go for next size.i prefer close fit and always buy medium in this brand. 5ft8in. 145lb
Excellent fit, very warm and very light.
I'm giving this 5 stars but for me personally, it's probably only worth 4. Why? Because it's so light (SL version of three weights), it's also got minimal insulation; both keeping the weight & the bulk down. But for me, the extra 200g or so above a basic windshirt, doesn't really contribute the amount I thought it would to the heat aspect. What I mean is, it's only marginally warmer than an unlined windshirt, making it an unlikely choice in my lightweight travelling armoury, because for much less weight, I can get a very similar amount of warmth/wind protection.
But if you're going to use it as a stand-alone item, it's still pretty good. It fits well in keeping with most of Arcteryx's garments (not like a sack, therefore!), has a decent water-repellent finish, is very windproof & provides some thermal insulation. Just don't rely on it for much warmth. For someone moving fast in cool conditions, I'd say it'd be a pretty good choice as it stretches where it needs to, has a couple of useful pockets & the drawstring hem is efficient.
Small reflectives are a bonus, as is the hood.
