The Petzl Micro Traxion pulley is very versatile and can be used for three different tasks. In it's most basic of modes it is a lightweight pulley where the rope can pass in either direction. But when the toothed cam is deployed then the Traxion becomes a one way pulley that is ideal for crevasse rescue, hauling and in an emergency as an ascender.
The toothed cam will grip wet, icy and even muddy ropes so you know safety is ensured. This combined with sealed bearing within the pulley housing not only provides smooth use but ensures you can control the rope with ease.

I purchased the Petzl Micro Traxion for a recent trip to the French Alps, as we were planning to cross numerous wet glaciers and wanted to upgrade from 6mm cord prusik loops. Whilst never used in anger during glacier travel, I found the Micro Traxion very easy to set up whilst rehearsing hoist and ascending the rope. Loads of grip provided on both 10mm and whilst out of the recommended diameter, the 7. 5mm Mammut Twilights. Easy to engage and remove the cam with the button on the housing. Costly compared with a length of 6mm cord but reassuring to know I had this on my harness.
