The Petzl Meteor helmet is a redesign of a classic Climbing and Mountaineering helmet with the addition of Ski Touring features. At just 240g The Meteor contends with other super light climbing helmets and is well ventilated.
The Meteor is a very comfortable and stable helmet, this is achieved via the adjustable cradle that will form to your head shape. The helmet has a full polystyrene foam lining that is finished with a soft wicking headband. The Meteor is compatible with the Petzl Vizion face shield. This can easily be attached to the helmet providing extra protection from shattered ice and spindrift.
The biggest redesign of the Meteor is that it is now CE-certified Ski Touring helmet. Petzl have achieved this by increasing the side protection offered by the Meteor. It now comes down further a the back of the head and contains more protection ad the side. Please note that this is different to the EN 1077 standard for Alpine Ski Helmets which the Meteor does not meet. The Meteor is also compatible with most ski goggles and features a large cord strap on the back to hold goggles straps in place.
If you're intending to use a helmet where you may encounter frequent minor rock falls and generally more knocks, then we would recommend a helmet with a polycarbonate shell.

Customer Reviews of Petzl Meteor
Awesome light weight and well vented helmet for ski touring/ski mountaineering. Plenty comfortable enough for skinning/boot packing up and reassuring both up and down.
A MIPS variant, like the Mammut Wall Rider, is the only feature I think is slightly lacking.
