When in need of Cooking Gear instead of lightest possible frying thingies, this is your tool. Thick(ish) aluminum/steel bottom ensures better heat distribution with often so narrow flame patterns of common gas and alcohol cookers. It's been told to be easy to clean, well, it's not teflon. I have burned some fish badly enough to spend quite awhile cleaning this pan. But on the other hand, it's not teflon, so you can scrub it with whatever tools you have. Steel pan you buy, steel pan you get. A good one, that is.

Love it! This is the definitive, durable and all year around camping frying pan. After trying different lighter materials such as titanium or aluminium I end up coming back to stainless steel because it is the real deal, the only one capable of resist the hard use of touring around the world and cooking daily with my multi fuel stove. I love the little peak for dropping liquids, and the handle system works good as well, little details that put me in love with the MSR Alpine fry pan. So far there is no complaints at all, I have been able to fry up to 4 eggs at a time for my breakfast!

I purchased the MSR Alpine Fry Pan recently and have to say that it is an impressively robust and heavy duty frying pan. The problem with most camping frying pans is that they are either too small or too flimsy to last long. This pan handles a decent fry up for two, pancakes and s forth with ease and has just enough weight to provide stability on a small stove. We washed away burnt marks in the pan with hard scourers, leaving it totally unscathed. I also like the folding handle feature which saves on space. Steel is also more stable than other metals like aluminium, so as long as the base of the pan is not too heavily pitted, it is safer to cook in and eat from too. An excellent value for money purchase for under à "šÃ‚£17; I am truly delighted with this nifty piece of camping cookwear kit.
