The Leatherman Crunch is a great tool for those that prefer the solid bight of locking Mole Grips. The head of the Crunch folds neatly away into the handle but can be quickly deployed to grip anything up to 1" in diameter.
The other fold away blades all lock open for safe use and if the adjusting screw is removed it reveals a 1/4" Hex Bit adapter. This is a serious tool for the working man.

Customer Reviews of Leatherman Crunch
The crunch is the only tool you will ever need. I have had one for about ten years and have done everything with it. The locking pliers being the most used. I carry it on my belt every day and probably use it most days. Fantastic. Worth the money!!
This is my 3rd Leatherman tool, (even that speaks for itself!!) I've bought the Surge, The Wave (my favourite) and now the Crunch (a Mole Grip). This last one is different in as much that it has separate handles, which is no big deal, but you have to 'pull' the Mole head out of it's cubby hole and into position. The product is absolutely well made and does all that it is said to do. One very important point is when you pull out the blade to cut something, you have to be extremely careful when putting it back in the handle as it has a 'tendency' to snap back and can give you a nasty cut if you are not careful! Otherwise brilliant! And the company Facewest couldn't be better too!!
I needed a multi-tool with lockable pliers and the Crunch provides an adjustable vice grip (with a similar action to Mole Grip adjustable pliers) with square-nosed pliers that had a pin groove along the length of one jaw. For some of my work I need to grip steel pins which may be anything up to 1/8th of an inch in diameter. The Crunch grips them securely and allows me to remove the pins from bone, with a twisting and pulling motion.
The tool is very well designed and the pliers head folds into one of the handle sections. It is a compact tool that locks open for use by means of an ingenious pivot system which helps to keep the tool small in size. The thumbscrew which adjusts the jaw opening takes the jaws from 0 to around 1 inch wide and the pliers jaw also has a rounded heavily serrated section for gripping items like a pipe or a nut.
The Crunch handle has a selection of flat screwdriver blades and a cross head screwdriver. There is a very sharp serrated blade and a file that can be used for wood or metal. The Crunch also comes with a lanyard holder, bottle opener, 1/4 inch hex bit holder (when the adjusting screw is removed) and ruler markings in inches and centimetres along the handle body and which are well known on Leatherman tools.
Each of the tools from the handle can be locked open and they are released so that they can be folded back into the handle by a flat spring clip once it is pressed. The clip is about an inch long and it sits across the full width of the handle section. Part of the handle can be used as a wire stripper and the Crunch came complete with a Leather pouch. I thought the pouch could have been slightly longer because the adjustment screw has to be fully closed before the tool sits in pouch. I also would have liked to see a belt loop fixed onto the pouch so that the tool could be easily carried.
The quality of construction of this Leatherman tool makes it a joy to use and the 25 year guarantee shows that the Leatherman company stand behind their products. The Crunch does not feel flimsy in use, like some other makes of multi-tool. I highly recommend the Crunch to people who need a pliers tool which can be locked onto the workpiece.
Finally, a word about FaceWest. The customer service is absolutely fantastic. My initial Leatherman purchase appeared to suffer with a finish quality problem and FaceWest were first class in sorting out all of my issues. FaceWest is clearly a trustworthy company with great integrity and it is clear to me that they put customer service at the top of their list of important attributes. Buy with confidence.
