The Exped Synmat UL Winter is Exped's lightest and most compact synthetic four season insulated mat. It's ideal for winter fast and light ascents, adventure races in colder environments or for colder sleepers. The Exped SynMat UL Winter offers the same comfort as a downmat, but does not provide the same level of insulation: It insulates down to temperatures as low as -18°C.
Filled with a synthetic microfibre insulation material which is laminated to the inner top and bottom walls to prevent migration and allow for improved loft and excellent insulation. A one way deflation valve ensures quick deflation so you can get on the move quickly. The outer surface has a anti-slip GripSkin coating ensuring that you and your bag are in-situ for a comfortable nights sleep.
The Exped Synmat UL Winter has two one-way valves, one for inflation and one for deflation. A Schnozzel Pumpbag is included.

Customer Reviews of Exped SynMat UL Winter
After extensive reading of reviews from outdoor writers and actual purchasers, decided to invest in a good night’s sleep. I’m 5’ 11” and the length and width of this mat are superb. I’m a side sleeper and found the support (no rolling around/off the mat) and insulation exceptional. Used it for two nights’ comfortable sleep. Would definitely recommend this product: not cheap but a good sleep is essential preparation for a day in the hills. Service from facewest was 5 star too!
I am 6'3 and 86kg and purchased the exped synmat 9 wl winter mat. It's a big investment for a sleep mat but I used it for a wild camp in the Dale's recently and it didn't disappointment. Rolls down to a relatively small size so it didn't take up too much room in my sack and it's not too heavy either. Inflated in no time with the snozzle and I had the best nights sleep. No cold areas, my hips and shoulders were off the ground, plenty of room on it and it's noticeably warmer than any mat I've used previously. Looking forward to using it in winter, I'm sure it will do the job of keeping the cold at bay. Would definitely recommend. 👍
I spent a lot of time researching this purchase and I was very happy with this choice on the first time out. Super comfy, warm and quick to inflate. If like me you move around a lot whilst you sleep the rectangular mat makes lots of sense, I stay on this may without being woken with cold feet/ lower legs after slipping off the mat. The weight ain't bad also for its size/ warmth rating.
Looking forward to giving it a more demanding test in colder weather but initially I'm super pleased :-) Oh and the schnozle thingy bag inflation system is brilliant.
