Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling

Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling

Wild Country's 12mm Dyneema Sling was the first Dyneema sling, In 1999 'This thin bit of tape' was thought as quite radical and people were sceptical, but today it has become the norm on the trad climbers rack.

Dyneema has taken the place of Nylon over the past few years because it is strong and light, 22g per metre. These slings come in a choice of four lengths, so whether for fixed or running belays you have great choice. The most popular lengths are the 120 and 240cm, this is because they are ideal for belays at the end of most pitches and will fit round most trees and blocks.

Please Note: Slings come in various lengths and colours. The sling colour is not specifc to the length and may be different from the image above.

Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling Review, DIMITRIOS GEORGOULIS, 10/03/2013

I purchased a 12mmx60cm green coloured dyneema sling from Wild Country for general use.Dyneema is a durable, lightweight, water repellent material with a great variety of uses. This particular sling will be used mostly for equalising 2 anchors points, maybe in trad climbing and definitely to clip gear onto. It can also be used for general mountaineering. I did prefer the 12mm over the 10mm for an extra safety feeling since there is not much difference in price. More available colours would be a nice addition to the range. I am very pleased with this sling and Wild Country in general and I am looking forward to expand my sling range.

Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling Review, Zane, 07/17/2012

I purchased this sling to replace my nylon version. I have a few WC 10mm slings which are great, but I decided that that the 120cm sling would be used for rock spikes so I opted for the 12mm version. While the weight difference is minimal, 10mm 120cm is 44g vs. 53g for the 12mm 120cm sling, it looks a heavier construction and I feel would have better wear resistance.

WC don't colour code they're slings so if you want to keep your slings lengths different colours, give the guys in Facewest a call and they'll let you know what colours are in stock.

Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling Review, Mark Bagnall, 06/15/2012

I bought both a 30cm and a 60cm sling and they both have been great! They are very strong and sturdy and have been used a lot whilst I switch ropes at the top of the wall. Definitely a must for any climber and a margin price too!

Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling Review, Lorne Cameron, 08/09/2011

As another reviewer said, the 12mm feels a bit more reassuring than an 8 or 10mm, even if the ratings are the same I just feel a bit more comfortable on this slightly wider version as a cows tail while belaying/etc.

Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling Review, steffan jacob, 05/18/2011

TheDyneema sling what a product, lightweight, colourful, with many different uses. With the variety of different sizes gives the flexibility to do so much. The 240 is a big sling and I don't tend to carry the 240 on my harness as it is bulky but for setting up top ropes and anchors out of reach it is perfect. Defiantly prefer Dyneema and well worth having on your rack.

Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling Review, Jan Stephens, 10/13/2010

These slings are the one stop shop for slings in my opinion. The 12mm width just gives that little extra in confidence which is great. The 60cm sling is perfect for over the shoulder use as a second, just to clip all the leaders gear onto. It's also great as an extendable sling with 2 crabs on either end for multi pitch climbing. The 120 is perfect for spikes/threads or for equalising 2 anchors. The 240 is amazing for large blocks/chocks or threads that are out of reach.

The price of them is reasonable, and no more than competitors such as DMM. I would certainly pick these over any 10mm slings out there!

Wild Country 12mm Dyneema Sling Review, Ben Fillmore, 05/11/2010

Great set of slings, I personally prefer the 12mm dyneemas over the 10mm, they feel a bit thicker and look a hell of a lot more safe!

The 60mm is the perfect size for racking gear on, for general anchor building and setting up running belays from, every mountaineer should carry a handful of them! I've found the dyneemas don't take as much water on if used in slushy conditions keeping them lighter than nylon through the day.
