The Rab Microlight Alpine provides excellent protection for its weight, making it the perfect mid layer for those demanding exceptional levels of warmth with minimal weight and a compact pack size. The Microlight Alpine is one of the most popular down jackets on the market and has been redesigned for winter 2018, it now has diagonal rather than vertical pockets, a new cuff design as well as an improved fit.
The outer is made of Pertex Quantum fabric which is very lightweight, breathable and windproof and is DWR treated. The 750 fill power (US) European goose down is held closely in place by stitched through narrow baffles, ensuring enduring warmth for the wearer. Hydrophobic down is used to provide better performance in damp conditions. This down is NOT waterproof, but will retain its loft for longer if it gets damp, and will dry faster.
The fit is slim and forming - ideal for a close fitting midlayer. The down filled hood is adjustable and features a laminated brim and a flexible polymer peak, making it ideal when you need to batten down the hatches. The cuffs are elasticated and the hem features dual drawcords so it will keep a close fit, preventing spindrift getting inside. All the zips on the jacket are YKK reverse coil making the jacket look sleek. There is plenty of storage with one zipped chest pocket and two zipped harness compatible hand pockets. The jacket also comes supplied with its own stuff sack for ease of packing and protective transportation.

Customer Reviews of Rab Microlight Alpine
Just Mint! Warm. Perfect fit. Top quality workmanship. Packable. Great looking. Very happy with this fantastic jacket. Had been looking at these for a loooong time and finally saw a great price where a free Rab tee short was thrown in and made the investment. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Go for it, you'll be so glad you did!
I bought this jacket recently and in particular for warmth while not moving around a great deal.I have to say that having been outside for two days now it has been absolutely excellent! Well worth the money!I was out today with around fifteen other people in the highlands of Scotland for about eight hours in very cold strong winds, I was warm and many of the others freezing.
Another great product from Rab, couldn't be happier with the jacket. I had concerns about how easy it was to pack down into the stuff pocket but it's pretty straightforward considering how small it goes. It feels effortless to wear and does a great job of cutting out the wind. Also worth noting the Rab ethically source their down.
An absolutely perfect purchase. Essential to have a warm down jacket, and this was spot on. Most of the British ski mountaineers had one, or something very similar. I liked the cut and fit, and this was my surprise perfect purchase. Can't recommend it highly enough, and for an environment which did get really cold at night - especially the hut dormitories (no-one mentioned how cold they were) - was an essential piece of kit, and for many the only warm layer that was taken.a quality product which also looks extremely good in the resort at the end.
