The Rab Electron Jacket is a midweight down jacket ideal for year round active use in mixed conditions. Rab use a Midi-baffle that is throughout the torso, back and hood while the sides and arms feature narrower mini-baffles, this reduces bulk in key areas and helps eliminate cold spots. The baffles are filled with 800 FP European goose down, providing a high level of insulation to weight, the down has also been treated with a Nikwash coating to make it hydrophobic for a better performance in damp conditions. This down is NOT waterproof, but will retain its loft for longer if it gets damp and will dry faster. The down is then further protected by a Pertex Quantum Pro outer, this is the most robust of the Pertex family of lightweight fabrics and has a water resistant DWR coating.
The helmet compatible hood features a wired peak that provides excellent protection and when the drawcords are tightened, it will move with your head so your vision is never impaired. To assist with retaining heat the jacket has a full length YKK flat Vislon zip with a down insulated baffle and is further sealed with elasticated cuffs along with an elastic drawcord at the hem. It also comes supplied with its own stuff sack for ease of packing and protective transportation.

This jacket was bought a birthday gift for my husband. He loves it. Great jacket was in the sale even better !
Fantastic jacket, great fit and very warm, looks great on. Really like the gusseted elasticated sleeves and the hood fits very well. The jacket is very light & comfortable, you'll hardly know you are wearing it.Overall great value and very happy with purchase.
The technical data indicates that this jacket contains 190 gr of down, but when I received it I was disappointed by the lack of swelling. The picture is more flattering than reality.(Photoshop or samples dedicated for commercial pictures?)I recently had this problem with a Norrona Lygen jkt and a Mountain Hardwear stretch down Rs Jkt thiner than expected.
I have doubts about the fact that this jacket can be really warm below -5°C. ( I can say that because i own several down jackets from top rated brands). To be shure, i tested it standing 15 minutes in my garden in a -3°C temperature at night with only a long sleeved shirt made of wool. I did'nt get cold, but it was not really comfy, without this sensation to be in a tepid cocoon that only the down can get you.
My Arcteryx Thorium SV hoody with only 150 gr of down is clearly warmer (and clearly more expensive, i know!)It is a pity because the cut is well adjusted and the jacket is light and comfortable to wear. This jacket is certainly good for an activity in cold weather, but not for static situations.
