The Rab Axion Pro Jacket provides excellent all round use down insulated jacket with a wide range of uses, from cold days at the crag to winter mountaineering and trekking. The Axion Pro makes use of recycled materials throughout; The outer is recycled Pertex Quantum Pro, the lining is recycled 20 denier nylon and the insulation is now recycled 700FP down with a Nikwax Hydrophobic water resistant treatment.
The outer is made of recycled 20 denier Pertex Quantum Pro ripstop nylon fabric which is very lightweight, breathable and windproof with a DWR treatment for extra protection from damp conditions. The 700 fill power (US) recycled down is held in large stitch through baffles that provide plenty or warmth. Hydrophobic down is used to provide better performance in damp conditions. This down is NOT waterproof, but will retain its loft for longer if it gets damp, and will dry faster.
The fit is slim but leaves plenty or room for layers. The hood is filled with synthetic Stratus insulation as this area is likely to get wet, so synthetic insulation is appropriate as it keeps you warm even when wet. The cuffs have a hook and loop adjustment so you can get a nice tight seal, and the hem features a drawcord so it will keep a close fit, preventing spindrift getting inside. The main zip is YKK Natulon and is double ended so you can access your harness when on belay duty. There is plenty of storage with one large zipped chest pocket and two zipped harness compatible hand pockets.
