The Rab Womens Microlight Alpine provides excellent protection for its weight, making it the perfect mid layer for those demanding exceptional levels of warmth with minimal weight and a neat compact pack size. The Microlight Alpine is one of the most popular down jackets on the market and has been redesigned for winter 2018, it now has diagonal rather than vertical pockets, a new cuff design as well as an improved fit.

The outer is made of Pertex Quantam fabric which is very lightweight, highly breathable and windproof and is DWR treated.  The 750 fill power (US) European goose down is held closely in place by stitched through narrow baffles, ensuring enduring warmth for the wearer. Hydrophobic down is used to provide better performance in damp conditions. This down is NOT waterproof, but will retain its loft for longer if it gets damp, and will dry faster.

The fit is slim and contoured - ideal for a close fitting midlayer. The down filled hood is adjustable and features a laminated brim and a flexible polymer peak, making it ideal when you need to batten down the hatches. The cuffs are elasticated and the hem features dual drawcords so it will keep a close fit, preventing spindrift getting inside. All the zips on the jacket are YKK reverse coil making the jacket look sleek. There is plenty of storage with one zipped chest pocket and two zipped harness compatible hand pockets. The jacket also comes supplied with its own stuff sack for ease of packing and protective transportation.

This is the second one of these jackets that I have bought. They are warm, light weight and functional with a handy stuff bag.The new one has been updated, slightly longer in length (great),but I don't like the new peak in the hood as much. The cuffs have also been improved.I'm yet to find out if it is more damp proof.I would recommend for the outdoor life trekking etc in colder climates.

Fab jacket - fits well in all right places such as sleeves, length, flattering!Worn it all winter and used it as extra layer under paramo jacket in cold wet weather - great for watching cold hockey matches, dog walking, shopping as well as all the sporting stuff.Beluga colour is lovely and received lots of compliments - haven't seen many people wearing this colour.Taken it on cycle touring of Orkneys, its also going out to Ladakh in India for mountain biking trip in August.Daughter also has one in Navy with pink lining and uses it for climbing and cycling to and from uni each day.Good for cold uni flats!Repels light rain if get caught in shower, washable with down wash.Keep making them they are best bit of kit - jacket I have ever bought, pricey yes but worth every penny!
