The OMM Waist Pouch is a nice simple 'bum bag' for those shorter runs where your requirements are little. It's big enough to carry some lightweight waterproofs or a wind top as well as gloves and a hat.
The single main compartment is accessed via the zipped top. The elasticated shock cord on the top can be used to secure a jacket externally and this cord can also be attached to the lower hooks in order to compress the contents holding the pack firm and preventing it from jumping up and down. On each side wing an elasticated pocket will easily hold some gels. And whilst on the trail the padded mesh lining provides comfort, wicking moisture away from the back.

Just finished running Three Shires and using this for the first time - it's perfect! Managed to get all the mandatory kit for an AL fell race crammed in : lightweight waterproof pants/jackets (Montane Minimus), hat, gloves, whistle, A4 map, compass, 4 gels, Snickers bar, car keys, Ipubrofen, 800ml water in two silicon bottles and some toilet paper. It was tight though!/
The mesh side pockets are a bit small but perfect for grabbing gels on the go and stuffing the empty tubes back in to stop your gear getting sticky. Just managed to stuff two gels in each pocket. The padding is really good for such a light bit of kit, helps keep it comfortable and stops the sweat getting through the bag to all your gear. It's perfectly stable if you cinch it tight, but did flap a little with that much crammed in until I drank one of the water bottles. The clip inside is handy for your car keys. The ends of the waist belt are kept tidy with two pieces of elastic which is a nice touch.
I didn't need to use the elastic cord and clips but they seem well designed and sturdy and would keep a jacket secure on the outside of the bag.
I recently purchased one of these pouches for holding the mandatory kit for a trail half marathon. It bounced around at first but after tightening a touch I didn't notice it for the rest of the race. The main pocket swallowed up all the kit I took:- Full waterproofs, hat, gloves, foil survival bag, compass, full OS map, two gels and car keys.
The mesh hip pockets have clips inside but are open, so good for things on a string like a compass or dibber. I haven't put any loose items in them yet so I don't know how resistant they are to escapees. As other reviewers have mentioned a zipped pocket may be better. The elasticated bungee on top is useful for quickly stashing a windproof and stops the contents of a fairly empty bag from sloshing around. If you don't want it, you can unthread it and keep it for later.
The bungee and bag have reflective detailing which is nice. I've not used it in the rain yet but I imagine it's drizzle-proof.
Overall I'm very happy with it and will probably buy another for my gf.
Initially bought the larger Ultra Waist Pack but struggled to get it tight enough and anyone with a waist smaller than about 34" will probably find this. Also found my hand hit the water bottle when running unless I spun the belt around a bit. Changed it for the smaller pouch and have to say it's brilliant. I use mine mainly for running to and from work. It's much neater than the Ultra but still able to carry my lunch, keys, phone, wallet and underwear with heaps of space left if required. Granted, this relies on me having most of my stuff at work already.
For longer runs, it'll easily carry a 500ml bottle, wind top, hat, food etc. The pouch compresses really well meaning no matter how full it is, bounce is not an issue. The only thing I'd maybe like to see is slightly larger and zipped hip pockets to keep gels.
An excellent, super lightweight running pack. It has an amazing amount of room for such a light pack, and I've got all the required kit for 26+ mile off road races into it, along with a 500ml water bottle. Inside the pack is a clip for attaching keys securely.
I don't find the mesh side pockets all that great - they are very small and have open tops. I worry that gels will escape to freedom! Larger pockets with a zip would be an improvement.
