The Mountain Equipment Super Couloir Gloves are protective, durable and fully waterproof, designed for maximum climbing dexterity whilst working hard in the mountains.

Constructed with a stretchy and breathable Exolite double weave soft shell outer combined with a Gore-Tex insert they provide total waterproof protection. The palms and backs of the hands feature Pittards Armortan Goatskin leather which assists with grip and durability when handling ropes, axes or poles. Inside the back of the hand areas, warm fibre pile lining keeps the cold at bay whilst on the palms there's microfleece lining for wicking comfort.

Featuring Mountain Equipment's Climbing Fit, the fingers are articulated and pre-curved giving you a more natural hand position and assisting greatly with dexterity, making easy work of handling screws and carabiners along with a precise and comfortable grip on your axes. An adjustable cuff closure means that the Super Couloir can be kept secure under your jacket sleeves. It also comes with removable wrist tethers and carabiner carry loops for preventing the gloves loss, by being able to attach them to your harness. Reversed suede on the inside of the thumb area provides a bit of comfort to your nose and face should they need a wipe.

Mountain Equipment Super Couloir Glove Review

Due to the current Covid lockdown, I have not been able to use these gloves for their intended purpose, but have been wearing them for my daily local exercise in some typical North West winter snow/sleet/rain. The fit is perfect. My hands feel in a relaxed state whilst wearing them and I soon forgot I was wearing them. I can imagine when using my axes they will be bob on. Dealing with jacket zips and adjusting my hood was fairly easy. The warmth is also perfect for me (it was -4 last night) and I do get cold hands. Easy to get on when my hands were wet. Very impressed with the quality of the fabric and stitching. I like to have a nose wipe and carabiner loop to hang my gloves hanging down so they don't fill with water/ snow. There's also a pull on loop and wrist tethers. I've been mountaineering for over 30 years, so these aren't my first pair of gloves, and I can attest that these are my favourites already. Now if they did it in a gauntlet....Perfect! However, the sizing is not right. I am a size 8 in all my other gloves. I wear Showa gloves everyday for work, and Dents leather gloves. I had to size up to a large, and that's without wearing a liner glove. Medium is meant to be 8-8.5 so they should have easily fitted. Facewest exchanged with no problems, but obviously I had to pay for return p+p.
