The Mountain Equipment Randonee Gloves are super durable and protective gloves for use in really harsh conditions whether you're climbing or skiing. The Exolite softshell is stretchy and double weaved for durability, whilst the Pittards Amortan leather palms provide an excellent grip for holding axes, ropes or poles. Leather overlays also feature on the back of the hand areas to assist with enhanced durability.
Inside, the fibre pile lining is warm and quick drying ensuring all day comfort and reducing slippage on ice tools. The gloves feature Mountain Equipment's Climbing Fit which has been specifically designed for dexterity when winter climbing. Soft fabric on the thumb areas provides a comfortable surface should you require to wipe your nose or face. The wrist closures are adjustable to ensure a snug seal under your jackets sleeves and carabiner carry loops assist with preventing gloves being dropped when taken off.

Customer Reviews of Mountain Equipment Randonee Glove (Winter 20)
I bought these as ski gloves as I was unimpressed with my full leather ski mittens. These gloves were not warm enough at -13C, however, I managed to fit some merino liners which gave enough warmth. As previously mentioned the fit is snug but eases with use. They dried much quicker than my old ski gloves. I think these would rate higher as mountaineering gloves rather ski gloves. For ski gloves I'd give 3 1/2 stars. Still looking for the perfect pair.
These are very good gloves. This is my second pair. They take a bit of getting used to. They are heavily fluffed up inside and therefore feel a bit undersized but once they have had 5 hours on they get comfy. Very happy with them.
Very good value and from facewest very good service
These gloves have been a revelation, they're highly breathable and very dexterous. I normally suffer from damp leading to cold hands and have not suffered any such issues with these gloves. If they do get soaked they still offer reasonable warmth and are easy to take on and off.
I've used them for resort skiing and found the comfortable temperature range to be -10°C - 0°C. I've been able to manipulate zips, clips, toggles and even eat a packed lunch with the gloves on thanks to the excellent dexterity offered. This more than compensates for the lack of wrist leash which is normally a must for my ski gloves.
A note to would-be buyers, the gloves may feel tight at first but the lining will pack down slightly and conform to your hand giving a very good fit.
After years of buying expensive gloves and being eternally disappointed the holy grail has been discovered !!!! Warm, breathable, dexterous and weather resistant . Mountaineering, skiing or whatever your bag these gloves will do the business.
I bought these gloves primarily for a skiing trip but I can see them being my 'go to' winter glove from now on. Very warm and, most importantly, breathable, they kept my hands dry and comfortable when everyone else with me who had Goretex lined gloves were complaining about them being sweat soaked at the end of every day. It really would need to be raining very heavily before I'd prefer to be wearing 'waterproof' gloves.
I've only used them for 6 consecutive days so it's too early to comment on longevity but they certainly feel well made and the leather feels supple and high quality.
This is my second pair of randonee gloves. They are basically the best all round glove i have used, my last pair lasted 4 years with almost 200 days of skiing and a little ice climbing thrown in. The fibre pile liner makes them easy to get on when your hands are wet, they dry out rapidly and in the real world keep your hands dryer than any Goretex lined glove due to the breathability of them. I just hope that ME never stop making this workhorse.
I was so pleased with these gloves I bought a second pair.
Nice snug and warm fleece liner - feels much warmer and nicer than a thinsulate glove.I'm someone who suffers from cold hands and appreciate a good glove.
I've warn them on the moors at zero degrees with a 20 mile an hour wind and walking the dog at 7 degrees with no wind but lots of rain. And they coped perfectly in both circumstances.
The description mentions a water resistant layer - which I hope won't wear off.But for now they are definitely wind and water resistant ( not proof ).
They are fairly snug fitting - I have a small mans hand and the medium fits perfectly.Thick enough for warmth but not so thick to remove all manual dexterity. Also not too long - long enough for a warm wrist but not the gauntlet style that are a challenge to put over/under a waterproof coat.
Probably the best general purpose gloves I've owned.
I am quite picky about gloves, and my hands get cold easily. The ME Randonee have been my 'go-to' gloves for a number of years now. The design is neat and clean, it doesn't come too far down your cuff and the velcro closure is less bulky as it doesn't double back. The gloves are so snug that I eventually cut off the velcro closure as it wasn't needed.
I find the fit snug and the dexterity the best of any glove this warm. I mainly used them for skiing, ski touring and summer alpinism. They were okay on 1 or 2 ice climbs, but not ideal and there are much better gloves out there for this.
I'll be buying another pair when these wear out.
