The Mountain Equipment Ogre 42 pack is based on their outstanding new Tupilak pack but is made with more of a compromise on the minimalistic approach. With a 42 litre capacity it is suited to winter mountaineering or lightweight multi day missions. Made from M840 and M280 fabrics it is water resistant and durable, with the thicker fabric in high wear areas. It is completely strippable with nearly every component able to be removed to reduce the weight, this can give a massive weight saving of 260g when the pack is fully stripped.
The back panel and shoulder straps are a supportive EVA composite and the hipbelt features high density EVA moulded fins for comfort over long distances. The lid is secured with Mountain Equipment's Grappler buckle which is lightweight and virtually impossible to accidentally break. In the lid there are 2 pockets, one large one on the outside and a smaller security one on the inside. The lid forms a cowl top to keep the weather out with a fastening on the front and the back ensuring it is secure when the pack is both full or only partially full. The bag itself has a quick release drawcord closure for easy access.
There are plenty of carry options with dual axe retainers, complete with an integrated pick pocket, a Daisy Chain system, and the pack comes with a Shockcord to allow you to rig up your own carry system using the Daisy Chain - ideal for crampons or stuffing a jacket into.
