Customer Reviews of Mountain Equipment Ibex Pant (Winter 19)
I have run a campsite in Scotland for several years and the Mountain Equipment Ibex Pant trousers have become an essential clothes item for me. They look smart and function well as workwear, leisure wear, walking trousers and I even wear them in my canoe.
I find the trousers comfortable, durable, well-made and well-fitting. They certainly stand up to a rough and tough lifestyle, lasting for years. They are quick drying and pack to a small size. I wear them in all but the hottest or coldest weather.
Given the wear I get out of them, I consider them to be excellent value. Iwouldn't be without them.
Impressed with these pants so far. Unbelievably comfortable and they stretch well when climbing steep mountains. It also has a belt which is great. I got the medium regular and I'm a size 32/32.
Great pair of pants for venturing out in colder conditions. Tried them going cross country in Norway. Great cut and material that stretches. I am 185 cm tall, normal build. Size 34 regular length was a perfect fit.
Light trousers, stretch great, cycled home in light rain and trousers dry, really comfortable and look very well. So impressed!
I recently bought these pants for walking in cooler weather. As usual, the order and delivery from Facewest was simple and quick. As for the pants themselves...... they have an integrated belt, five zip pockets - 2 side pockets, 2 thigh pockets and rear pocket. Also has zips at the bottom of the legs, and ability to have draw cords in the hems - not provided. The material is Exolite which gives an elastic movement. The pants are well finished. I'm a 34 waist, but having bought Mountain Equipment trousers before, purchased 32. They fit me fine.
I tried them out for the first time walking up Snowdon. They were comfortable, the stretch was really good, allowing free and unrestricted movement. They also kept the wind out and provided sufficient warmth. They have some water resistance, but I didn't find out how much on the day itself. Ideal for what I need and would buy them again.
The fit is great and the stretch fabric ensures no restriction when taking large, vertical steps. Ideal in slightly cooler conditions, but the ventilation adds flexibility. Based on this product, I will certainly be purchasing other ME trousers to cater for other times of the year.
As can be expected from ME gear this is an excellent product. The fit is great, it feels like a second skin and the fabric is very comfortable. The micro fleece lining in the waist feels nice as well.
While I really like this product, I think the Facewest description is a bit inaccurate. The fabric really is light in weight, but for me it is not exactly thin and suitable for warmer conditions in the valleys. I used this in freezing temperatures in end march - begin april at 2500m and was it was very warm and it was comfortable in a blizzard at -15c with a hardshell overtrousers. If you are one of those that generally find softshells too warm for summer use, than I would recommend the Comici pants instead.
I would recommend this product to everyone looking for a medium thickness softshell trousers that is low on weight.
What a super soft shell pant. The fit would be hard to better at any price. I would live in them if I could only get away with them at work !. Walking in Wales or climbing in Austria they fit the bill. Warm but not hot and cool but not cold. Any time of the year rain or shine, they just go on for ever. Just wash every now and then with soft shell proof and they laugh at all but a full on storm. Again Facewest got them to me in record time. Many thanks. An easy five out of five for Mountain Equipment.
