Description
The Mountain Equipment Classic Range is Mountain Equipments's best selling selection of sleeping bags. They offer great value, all-round performance in a roomier, more generous sized design. The Classic 500 is ideally suited for three season UK camping/bivying and winter valley camping.
The Helium outer is lightweight and breathable. Its constructed using slanted Box-Wall baffles throughout the main body, this increases the bags thermal efficiency and improves down migration control. The inner is a Supersoft lining which is gentle against the skin as well as being breathable, helping you stay comfortable in the bag.
The Classic 500 features a single handed Lode Lock closure with quick release. This essentially is two internal captivated magnets. As they automatically pull together and then lock into place, it prevents the bag from accidentally opening during your nights sleep. The Gemini zip baffle system replaces bulky twin draft tubes used traditionally on cold weather bags by the baffle being incorporated in the sidewalls. This new construction is light, low bulk, efficient and protective. In addition, the bag also features an integrated and fully adjustable down filled neck collar. All these features contribute to retaining essential warmth whilst you are sleep.

Customer Reviews of Mountain Equipment Classic 500
First of all, I was pleased to be able to fit this sleeping bag easily into the bottom of my rucksack (using the stuff sack), leaving plenty of room for my other gear.
I used it for the first time in a cold, unheated refuge in the Maritime Alps in France and was plenty warm enough with just a T-shirt. The XL version provides plenty for room for me as someone who is quite broad and just over six foot.
The only slight downside is that the zip has a fairly small tag to use to open and close the bag. I have an old synthetic ME bag that has a plastic luminous tag which is much easier to use. It might just be a case of getting used to the new one, but the zip did snag a couple of times.
So not quite 5 out of 5, although 4.5 would probably be about right if half marks were allowable.
A useful sleeping bag that is not only light but extremely compact when placed in the stuff sack that is provided.I am extremely pleased with this purchase and it comes highly recommended!
