Description
The Mountain Equipment Aurora VI is the warmest synthetic bag in the Aurora range and has been developed for Arctic use in cold and damp conditions with a Good Nights Sleep Guaranteed of -35°C. Ideally suited for Polar expeditions where you're relying on your bag to keep you alive.
Durable materials combined with high lofting and very compressible synthetic insulation ensure this bag will perform faultlessly in harsh conditions. At camp the bag will quickly loft creating a warm environment protected by an integrated collar, a full zip baffle and a Lode Lock closure preventing the bag from accidently opening whilst your sleeping. The bag features an Expedition fit with an EXL system this gives you extra space should you need to keep heavy items of clothing on to sleep in and has an improved loft along with providing thermal efficency.
The Aurora range has been designed to excel in cold damp conditions where down insulation may struggle. The Polarloft insulation provides the ultimate synthetic sleeping bag insulation, this is due to using two types of synthetic fill - continuous and mixed filament. These fills combined maximise thermal retention, durability and loft. They can withstand pronlonged use and repeated compression. The Drilite Loft 20D outer fabric offers an impressive 1500mm hydrostatic head making the outer highly water resistant as well as totally windproof. Keystone shingle and layered construction offers the greatest warmth for the minimum of weights combined with bonded seams on the underside of the bag, protecting the insulation from any water ingress.

Please note: For use in extreme conditions below -18°C these bags are outside the scope of the EN13537 comfort limit and extreme temperature test. However, Mountain Equipment quote the 'Good Night's Sleep Guaranteed' rating. This is the temperature at which you could expect to sleep reasonably (as opposed to shiver your way through the night) wearing light clothing and using a liner. This is generally a couple of degrees colder than the EN Comfort Limit rating.
Customer Reviews of Mountain Equipment Aurora VI (Summer 19)
Just back from Finnsmarkvidda in the north of Norway after a week of skiingand camping out. Nighttime temperatures dropped to -30C on a couple of nights but I was always warm and toasty in this sleeping bag, combined with the Mountain Equipment Down 7 sleeping mat. Combination of cooking in the tent porch and breathing means there'sa lot of frozen condensation in the tent, so the bag inevitably gets a bit damp, but there was no loss of warmth.
It compares very well to the Mammut Denali bags that I have hired, both in performance and price. Only downside is the size of it, even when in the stuff sac, which is about 70l. So, fine for a basecamp or on a pulk system but no good for backpacking. Comes in a nice storage bag as well as the stuff sac.
Overall, very pleased with it.
And usual speedy service from Facewest, too!
