The Montane Prism Bootie is a synthetically insulated, lightweight and packable 'end of the day' treat for your feet. The totally windproof Pertex Microlight rip-stop outer is exceptionally tough and durable and has high water repellency levels to protect your feet thanks to the DWR finish. The Hypalon panel on the sole of the sock ensures that the Prism Bootie stands up to some pretty rough treatment underfoot and the boot is insulated with Primaloft Gold synthetic insulation. This is teamed with a soft and comfortable microfleece lining and adjustable ankles, ensuring that your feet are kept warm and dry.
Grip Control in the inner sole assists in preventing the insulation from slipping around and provides better stability and longevity. The booties are also very packable and come in their own Montane stuff sack. The Montane Prism Booties are a must for any hut to hut touring adventure, cold evenings at the campsite/bivvy or cozy nights snuggled up in your van.
Please note: This is a lightweight bootie, it will not stand up to everyday use as a slipper around the house.

I relied on the Montane website for sizing these booties but they were too small for me. On seeing them, I decided that there would be insufficient insulation anyway for my purposes (see below*) and returned them.
Facewest handled the return process with speed and professionalism. Using Paypal, I did not have problems with changing exchange rates either. It was a painless experience.
Insulated booties / socks are rather difficult to design and make and here Montane have a problem with the toes. The rubber rand lies very flat and effectively reduces the size of the bootie. Shoes and foot sizes are a variable feast but, as a guide, my barefoot heel to toe length is 265 mm (typically a size 46) and the large size booties was too short, bearing sensibly on my longest toe when wearing socks.
*My purpose was to wear them over socks but without boots when sleeping outdoors at night ('2-season', lowland) without a sleeping bag. That might work if they were the full-blown mountaineering booties but these were thinner than I wanted to risk.
Just the job, usual excellent Montane product. Very light and warm and for me, more practical than a down version. I like the robust fabric on the base too - very pleased.
I bought the Montane Prism Booties based on reviews elsewhere on the internet. They are what other reviews say - an excellent end of day bootie and very warm. They don't take up much space in the backpack either and very light. Useful to slip on at the end of the day and for middle-of-the-night nature calls! The sole is good even on damp wet ground though not for extended exposure to the wet. Sizing is accurate in relation to foot length in the medium I bought (size UK8/EU42). The Pertex Microlight material sheds light rain and moisture quite well. I bought them in the bright mango colour making them easy to find in the tent in the dark. All in all a great purchase!
