The Mammut Belay Sling is a sewn sling with two differing length loops at either end and a smaller loop in the middle. As the loops are created by sewing the sling through itself in various places all the loops are fully rated.
The Belay sling is useful in a number of situations, particularly abseiling, where the central loop can be attached to your harness belay loop leaving the longer loop to go the the anchor and the shorter loop to use with your abseiling device. This is an easy way to make sure you're always in the system when setting up an abseil. Another main use is to use it as an equalised sling between 2 anchor points and use the central loop as an attachment point for an autoblock belay device to bring up your second. There are plenty of other situations, particularly when sport climbing, where the belay sling comes into its own.
