The Exped Waterproof Packliners are pack-sized and shaped versions of the standard fold dry bags. In contrast to Exped's standard fold dry bags, Packliners are better shaped to fit a pack
and completely fill the space.
The Packliners are sized for the size of pack they go into not their actual
capacity, so they will be larger than the pack to allow them to stick out of the top
and then be rolled down.
I got the 50 litre size & I've used it successfully for years. Admittedly I really like the Exped brand as I find they only do really quality kit, and this bag has proved its worth.
Initially I used it to line an aging backpack (waterproof liner) & it excelled in this but more recently I use it for cycle-touring as a waterproof bag for my tent. Packing up in the morning, the tent is virtually always damp, whether from condensation or rain - this pack liner is actually ideal to keep the water off the rest of my stuff (far better than even the toughest bin bag).
In a nutshell then - totally waterproof, lightweight & tough. Thanks.
Recently bought the Exped Lightning 60 Rucksac..Brilliant lightweight load carrier. BUT may as well have been made of Blotting Paper in terms of weather proofing.Walk back to camp in Arctic Norway in August in drizzle. The security pocket at the top even though covered by theroll over cover was soaking in side. The interior of the main compartment had visible water down its sides and at the base. The wettest interior I have ever experienced in 50 years of field work in North. Norway.Fortunately, most, but not all, of my gear was stored in EXPED dry bags. Not a total disaster !The new Exped Waterproof Pack liner is excellent and Im sure will cure my problem. I think that EXPED should either make the Rucksack waterproof or supply this liner as a standard feature of the Rucksack.
The liner looks to be of good quality and it was a reasonable price. We have not had the opportunity to test it for being waterproof yet. It came up bigger than we expected, could have had the size down.
This bag worked very well. I used it as a liner for a large rucksack, and it ensured that the items inside stayed dry. It also meant that I did not have to spend a long time trying to find something, as it kept everything in the order I put it in. Highly recommended.
