Description
The Edelrid Mega Jul is a versatile belay device made from stainless steel for durability. Despite being made from solid stainless steel theres essentially no extra unessicary material on the Mega Jul so it still only weighs 65g which is lighter than many regular aluminium devices.
The Mega Jul's unique design creates an braking effect when belaying which assists the belayer holding big falls. It is not an assisted braking device however. This braking effect is released using the large green thumb loops when playing out rope t oa leader.
The Mega Jul can also be used on multipitch climbs where one climber is taking most of the leads. To bring up a second the leader can rig up an autolocking, direct belay that can be used one handed. For guides this also allows two seconds to be bought up at once in safety, saving time and letting you get more climbing in.
