Coll Tex Transfer Tape is a roll of Coll Tex glue mounted on paper to be used when completely reglue-ing a pair of skins
The Transfer tape is much neater than the liquid glue when doing a full glue renew. For just repairing a small patch or reglue-ing the tails then liquid glue is a better choice.
Please see the video below for how to do it. The video is made by Black Diamond but the process is identical for Coll Tex Glue,
Dimensions - 4M x 125mm (enough for 2 skins)
If your skins are more than 125mm wide at the shovel or the entire length then you can split the glue into 2 lengthways and leave a small gap down the middle of the skin or use liquid glue to cover any gaps left.
Customer Reviews of Coll Tex Adhesive Transfer Tape
Really pleased with this. Very easy to use and now the skins appear to be good as new.
This is a superb piece of kit! It makes the re-gluing of ski skins a dream. The 'how to' video on the Facewest website is a must to see before you use the glue strips, and provided you follow each step religiously - which is not hard - you'll re-glue your skins with very little effort or hassle. Highly recommended.
Second time I've used these.Excellent, 40min from start to finish plus leaving to cool before removing paper.Used a paint remover blow gun (on the lower setting) and a wallpaper scraper; lots of news paper to catch the old glue.
Easy to apply, though is very sticky. It seems to be more sticky on the surface than the bond to the skin - it will probably end up with glue on one side only if you store face to face, or it accidentally sticks together!
Watch the video first.I used an iron and brown paper to get old glue off, but there wasn't a large amount.Ironing on the tape was easier than I expected, and the skins are now better than when new.So delighted.
Went on my skins very easily, no dramas.
I bought this for a pair of Black Diamond glidelite Mohair skins which were getting less sticky! Very easy to apply, although I glued my kitchen table initially, glue stuck extremely well to skins and backing paper easily removed. Roll was long enough for 2 skins with spare left over. In action last week the skins behaved wonderfully - better than new - both uphill and gliding, with no loss of stickiness, but easy to remove from skis. Altogether an easy and fantastic way to re-glue skins producing excellent results.
