The Black Diamond Mercury Mitt provides waterproof and insulated protection for really cold conditions, making this two-layer mitt the perfect choice for alpine ascents or long days in the back country.
The outer is constructed from a lightweight and waterproof Pertex Shield with the added benefit of featuring a four-way stretch and providing excellent durability. Goat leather is used on the palm side of the outer mitt and this is further strengthened with Kevlar stitching and a second patch of leather on the actual palm. This provides added durability and enhances grip.
The removable internal mitt is insulated with Primaloft Gold and lined with a high loft fleece. This not only produces amazing warmth but it also allows moisture to wick and pass out of the mitt. The internal mitt also has a BDRY insert making it totally waterproof and it features a split index finger design to assist in providing improved dexterity.

Customer Reviews of Black Diamond Mercury Mitt (Winter 18)
Well-made mitts with thoughtful points such as good wear reinforcement between the thumb and forefinger area. The sizing for me is correct after using the BD size chart. However, the thumb entrance is awkward and there is a tendency to miss it when putting on the mitts. Also, there are no wrist loops included. These are the reasons why I have awarded only four stars rather than five. Maybe the ease of entry will improve with use. From a warmth point of view, they seem to be about the same as that of down mitts of similar size and bulk.
