The Black Diamond Glue Renew Transfer Roll allows you to replace dirty glue on your skins without having to use liquid glue from a tube or bottle.
After removing old glue with an iron and brown parcel paper, you lay the glue strips onto the bare skin and then iron and roller the glue to stick it to the skin. Trim the edges and you are done. Please watch the demo video below.
This is a much neater solution for reglue-ing the entire skin than liquid glue. Small patches and tails are still best done with liquid or spray on glue.

Done some big races. Last one I wrecked the skins so thought I would replace the glue. A wallpaper hot stripper perfect for removal!! The transfer roll was good but make sure it's straight right at the start and in the middle!! The glue element is not too wide. Also you do get patches where the glue does not properly transfer. Re iron. Go slow with the iron End result is great!!!
Skins are so expensive nowadays that tackling a re glue is really a necessity for most of us at some point. Watch the 'you tube' videos, prepare, prepare and prepare again and set a side plenty of time in a space where getting glue everywhere won't do any harm! Getting the right temp/time on the iron was a bit of a challenge but eventually I managed to reglue 2 sets of skins. Narrow touring skins can let you get 2 pairs out of one set of glue transfer roll, so particularly cost effective. Scraping off the old glue/ironing it onto absorbing paper is very messy but the more patient you can be in getting the old glue off, the better the final job. Well worth it if you have the patience! Good Luck.
After checking my skins before setting out for an alpine tour I felt the need to refresh them before becoming un-stuck mid hut. Black Diamond Glue Renew Tranfers seemed like the way forwards.
Plus points - watching the online video made the process seem simple and straight forward. However after following the first step and removing the first layer of old glue using an iron and some heavy brown paper my skin became sicky again and so I have saved the renew transfers for the next time.
Minus point - The kit seemed a little expensive for what it was but much cheaper than buying new skins.
The instructions and Facewest video make this a good package. It was my first time renewing the glue on my skins and it is not an easy afternoon's work. That said the glue worked exactly as it should and went on remarkably well. Certainly holding solidly to my skis now, but still to test them in anger.
