The Black Diamond Expedition 2 Poles are a light two section pole that are ideal for ski touring. Though they are equally at home being used for trekking making them a great multi purpose all year round choice.
Expedition poles are constructed from lightweight and durable aluminium, stiff enough for trekking and hard skiing but not too heavy. The two sections mean the poles collapse down small allowing them to be lashed to a pack. Black Diamond use their foam grip which is extended down the pole allowing it to be held lower when traversing. And because the grip is foam it is comfortable in the warmer months when gloves are not worn. The grip top is a dual density rubber with an exaggerated sticky rubber point, which can be used to manipulate bindings and buckles. Handy for rapid switching between ski/walk mode on touring bindings.
The FlickLock system is low profile to avoid catching on clothing or gear and provides a very secure clamp that will not slip even if the poles are wet. This is much more secure than twist lock systems.

Customer Reviews of Black Diamond Expedition 2
Used them 3 times for track skiing and a couple of times to keep me upright on icy walks. Excellent grip mechanism. The poles are sturdy and the locking system works well.
Bought poles for downhill skiing & touring. Robust design that works.Adjustment worked well - easy to use and no slippage. Recommended.
I bought these as a dual purpose skiing/hiking pole. I was very dissapointed when the bottom sectionsheared after 10 weeks skiing and one week walking.
A value for money pair of adjustable ski touring poles. Light weight with a reliable licking mechanism. Highly recommended.
Opinion after a short ski tour is that these are well built poles, no slippage of the adjustment system and no problems. I'll be more than happy using these in future for longer tours.
