Customer Reviews of Arcteryx Gamma LT Pant (Summer 19)
These pants are one of my favourites in the right weather, I wear them a lot around town as well. They are very comfortable and they also look stylish. Don't expect too much of a water protection with them though, a 5 minute heavy shower and they were soaking wet - but at least they dry quickly. My biggest complain why I give them only 4 stars is the belt system. The belt is sew in and you cannot remove it. Normally the belt is closed, which can make it uncomfortable if you put the pant on and off a lot. I have removed the belt buckle and tucked in half of the belt in the opening on the right side (not a very elegant solution, let's admit), that's how I'm using it now. The problem is, that I have lost the buckle now, so I have no way to tighten up the belt when I need it so.
I bought these trousers mainly for walking in the spring and summer in the Lakes, but wore them first on a trip to the Maritime Alps in the south of France. With baselayer long johns underneath they were warm enough for walking with snowshoes in at times deep snow. The fabric also feels durable and mud brushed off easily.
I was surprised at how water resistant they were and this meant no need for shell trousers even when it was snowing heavily. I was also able to tighten them at the ankles with the elasticated cord. As a result, my socks stayed dry without gaiters even when sinking into the snow. Another big plus was that the stretch fabric meant they fit perfectly and movement never felt restricted. Finally, the two hip pockets are perfect for phone, keys etc and the side pocket is a good size for wallet and passport.
Not cheap, but really excellent quality and design.
