The Arcteryx Beta SV Jacket is a superbly durable jacket for use in harsh mountain conditions. Ideal for the climber or backcountry skier requiring a minimal jacket in the most breathable fabric. The SV features a longer length cut for added protection and the fit is regular cut with e3D, ergonomic 3-Dimensional patterning, designed to enhance a greater freedom of movement.
The jacket is constructed of80 denier Most Rugged 3L GORE-TEX Pro 2.0 fabric, which is the toughest and most durable waterproof fabric in the Gore-Tex range. Most Rugged GORE-TEX Pro 2.0 has an extra polyurethane element in the membrane, extending its lifespan and making it more abrasion resistant. The Beta SV has been constructed for intense activity that may include frequent stops, providing you with high levels of breathability thanks to the strategically placed 8mm seam tape. For added breathability the jacket features Watertight pit zips which enable fast ventilation when you're working hard.
The two WaterTight zipped hand pockets are generously sized for stuffing gloves, maps or guidebooks into, and on the left arm there is a handy smaller WaterTight zipped pocket. Inside the jacket a zipped pocket will keep your valuables safe along with a dump pocket for keeping larger items in. The helmet compatible StormHood has great adjustment with cohesive cordlock adjusters that can be opperated with one hand. This allows for a good seal and the hood will rotate with your head so your vision is never impaired, this being essential when operating in poor conditions.

Customer Reviews of Arcteryx Beta SV Jacket
Having had my Mountain Equipment Lhotse for a good few years it was time for an upgrade so I started researching jackets. I have always liked the look and reputation of Arc'teryx, but two things have always put me off. First was the price and second was the cut. I like jackets cut on the long side yet Arc'teryx seem to be cut very short. To make matters worse, I am longer in the body then I am the leg so most of their jackets would come up extra short on me. It was only when going through the range that I realised that their Beta SV jacket is cut significantly longer because it is aimed at hiking rather than climbing and the added length also gives extra severe weather protection. I justified the price by looking at it as a 5-10 year jacket and placed the order. I have to say I am pleased I did. Both the ME Lhotse and the Beta SV are made of Gore-Tex Pro, but there is a significant difference in terms of quality and finish. The Beta SV is significantly more breathable than the Lhotse despite being entirely made of 70D fabric. When it arrived I went for a quick walk. I had a t-shirt on with a cotton shirt over the top under the SV. It was 2 degrees outside and I felt chilly despite a brisk pace which was a very good sign because I knew I would have bags of wiggle room when layered properly. Since then I have been on several long walks in rain, wind and snow and the jacket has performed exceptionally well. The SV hem sits exactly where I want it to by default yet I can still pull it down another inch or two if need be. Very happy with my purchase and I am very confident it will be the last technical jacket I buy for a very long time.
